I remember him being a knob on The Panel a few years back. He was performing a song with electric guitar, decided to jump onto the desk, and of course the lead fell out of his guitar!:lol: That was funny sh*t.

He is f**king joke, he probably thinks his work is brillant....i just can't work out people like him make it in music and someone like me who has many many written songs with meaning and insight together with very good guitar player cannot??

I should just give up, it makes my blood boil knowing that i would tear the guy a new arse on the guitar but i don't have the opportunity too.

I remember seeing him as a sprog in his old band supporting Sonic Youth at Selinas.

That was a few years ago now...

You'll never be offered a recording contract if you know more than three chords ...

Come on...

There are plenty of talented musicians with contracts who couldn't write an interesting tune if their lives depended on it...

Yeah that's true but there is also plenty of crap that are lauded for being decidedly useless

People like his music - deal with it.

Don't like it - don't listen to it. Very simple.

How about appreciating your own favourite tunes more, instead of criticising those you hate. Who cares about airplay if you have bought the CD or downloaded the song yourself?

Some people are warped.

He had a film clip of the song and was walking the streets in white paint?

I agree totally with the sentiment of this thread!
Ben Lee is one of the biggest myths to ever hit Australian music.
I remember when he was just a kid writing and playing stuff that was pretty corny, but most people put it down to youth, and also saying that when he matures he is gonna' be a real talent. Well it never happened. As far as I'm concerned 'Something borrowed, something blue' is his only good song, the rest has been crap. It was a fluke!
Don't get me started on the ARIA's. They are a reward for producing utter garbage.

Another youngster who promised so much then turned out to be a sham was Daniel Johns. To produce a song like Tommorrow as young as Silverchair was, was quite exceptional. Frogstomp and in particular Freakshow had some fantastic music, but they soon lost the plot. Silverchair degenerated into a pile of sh*t and the 'dissociatives' have carried on this legacy by creating a whole new level of sh*t!
At first I thought it was a weird match up of Imbruglia and Johns but now they go so well together as Australia's king and queen of Aussie garbage!!

Australian music died when You Am I called it a day!

I disagree with you on Daniel Johns.

In my opinion he is one of the best musicians Australia has produced in recent times.

Diorama is an excellent album and is highly regarded by many musicians as a great piece of work. If you dont like a type of music it doesn't necessarily mean its garbage.

Doesn't say much for Australian music ...

What, did you want Daniel Johns to keep writing songs like Tomorrow for the rest of his life??

As for Ben Lee, Hey You, Yes You is a good album and the latest one isn't too bad either. Gee some people are hard to please. A good indie artist cleans up at the Arias and people are annoyed. Would you rather Shannon Noll winning everything?

But music is all about someone's opinion. There's a lot of music I like that gets no airplay or much coverage, but you get over it.

As for Axl Rose......how's that much awaited Guns N Roses album coming along? Oh that's right, it's never coming out.

As for the Nollsy comment ...yep spot on.

The male Aria has been a joke for years .

Deisel won every year for yonks without putting out a record.
I respect Paul Kelly but fuggen hell has there been a year where he hasn't been nominated???

At least next year Benard fanning might bring some normality back to it...although ( shudder) I did read Farnsie is putting out another record.

Axle's/GnR'S mythical new album is called Chinese Democracy.
I read where The Offspring were going to call one of their last albums that just to piss him off. :)

Ben Lee is possibly the most untalented, Uninspired successfull musician to grace the earth. The fact he won an ARIA is evidence of the state of Aussie Music.

The bottom line is, the Aussie public are becoming less and less musically educated, and increasingly influenced by the media and other people.
