And so the cleanout begins! Call in the Beavers there's a sh!t load of dead wood to clear.

Hey Saints, can we interest you in Jeremy Smith, Nigel Vagana, Dean Widders, Jaiman Lowe, Germaine Paulson, David Kidwell or Shannon Hegarty as well?

Yep I was proved wrong. Great talent but never reached his potential with us. Good luck to him at the Dragons.

Vagana is retiring, Smith,Widders, Kidwell & Hegarty to the ESL, Lowe to the Raiders, to build some depth in their pack.

As to, Nathaniel Barnes as Paulson, will probably be released

Ben had a lot of talent but struggled with consistency, I still believe he can be a decent 1st grade footballer. There are plenty of worse players still at souths.

I really liked Rogers, but he just seemed too casual this year. He looked happy just to be in first grade ... when things were going wrong, he still looked happy as larry.

I like players like Brett Finch - guys who go bonkers when they start to lose and lift their intensity to match.

Anyway, I hope Rogers finds success at Dragons or wherever he ends up (but has $hit games against the Eels and Bunnies for the rest of his career).

Smith,Widders, Kidwell & Hegarty to the ESL

any ideas as to who in ESL they have been linked with, and if so who do you think do ok over here in uk out of that lot.

HarelquinsRL are looking around for a SO(lost out on Tim Smith to the Wigan dollar:roll:), as Scott Hill leaving and returning home, just wondered if Smith is worth a punt. As know our CEO was in Aus looking a round at a few players but no rumours as to who here so if anyone knows of any have a word here please

Cheers from a fan in the uk

i dont understand why we couldnt keep him even if it was depth...

we havent signed anyone for next year and will probably have plenty of room in the cap... yet we release a guy who may become useful...

Richo better sign some promising juniors or a marquee!

Well the Rabbitohs staff got what they wanted, put him in reggies until he pulled the pin.

Dumb move imo. He's a lot better than some of the players who have been getting a run in the top grade.

Seems we are going backwards again, noone wants to sign with us as you can see from our recuritment for next season.

Personally, I've kind of got a soft spot for Jeremy.

Converse to my earlier post about Rogers, Smith is a guy who hates to lose. He's very aggressive and competitive.

Sadly, though, he doesn't really have a bucket load of skill to match it (Brett Finch is kind of the same, but a bit more talented). He's a toiler ... a worker. I think he'd ultimately make a better hooker than half.

So, you could do worse ... but you could also probably do a lot better.

Hopefully this means they will go ahead and try to retain Paea ... although he might be shirty with the way thigns went this year. He was supposed to be the heir apparent and was set to get a lot of support, but Wing's injury changed everything.

I think Sandow has proven himself a better prospect now, particularly in terms of his kicking game, so Paea has actually moved one step down the ladder ... especially with Sutton and Widders being favoured as five-eights ahead of him.

I think he's now needed for depth and I still think he might come good in the future.
