Ben Rogers has more talent than Dureau has on his best day. Sure, Rogers can have some brain farts. But, at least he can win a game when he is on.

They just have different talents imo...

Dureau has an awesome kicking game when he is 'on', and Rodgers has an awesome passing/running game when he is 'on'.

It just depends on how the other players compensate in the other areas of the game as to how we view their performance.

Just my opinion.

Add:

Rogers - Awesome running game

Dureau - No running game

Rogers - Capable defender

Dureau - Terrible defender

Rogers - Makes others look good

Dureau - Gives others nothing to work with

Well I covered the running game... but defending I don't give either a big mark...

Rogers is in our best 17 players, but i'm not sure where.
Really, him and Mullen are competeing for the same spot.

We are a much much much much better team with Rogers/Mullen than we are with Mullen/Dureau.

I can't believe people are still defending Dureau after seeing how much better a team we were last night to previous weeks...

14 tackles last night - none missed. Stopped a sure try down the sideline.

Tough marker...

Did the the team really look that much better last night? We've had great first halves followed by abysmal second halves all season - and Rogers' return coincided with that of our best player. Not saying I disagree that Rogers is the better option - just that it's not an adequate scenario for comparison.

Didn't see the ball he was getting out to Pato and Sau?

I think people seem to remember the odd brain explosion that the guy has and forget the good stuff he does every time he is out there. He is a decent defender. He does have a good passing game. He has the ability to create stuff.

Yes, by a mile.

Love him or hate him, but he straightens the attack. That's a huge key to winning football games. Just the angle he takes before distributing the ball. It makes a world of difference.

He straightens the attack and feeds to the ball to the guys who need feeding the ball as Alex28 said.

The difference was obvious I thought.

That is yet to be seen, especially against a horrible Cowboys, plus replacing McDonnell and a sub par Mullen with Gidley and Rogers in that area of our attack. Don't forget it could easily be argued that neither of our halves were better than each other for the first 5 rounds, and one of them was golden boy Mullo ;-)

We won't win every game with Rogers, we likely won't make the 8 with Rogers, but he'll make sure our attack is a hell of a lot straighter than when the alternative is there.

And as for Rogers defense, he is one of the better tackling halves in the comp.

Watch out - the Dureau apologists are back out in force...

Some people are hoping beyond hope itself that somehow my biggest ' agenda ' views on Dureau are wrong.

By 2012 Dureau won't be playing first grade in the NRL anywhere. Possibly even 2011. Unless its one of those desperate call ups from NSW Cup due to injury or something lame like that. The next Scott Porter. And that is going to really get up some peoples noses.

Jut one game and obviously Gidley made a huge difference. I only caught he last 20minutes of the game so cant really comment but I felt Gidley definately was a huge factor!
