Ben Ross Reviewed by Specialist Today

Rabbitohs prop Ben Ross will be reviewed by his specialist in four to five weeks time after meeting with him this morning.

Ross’ specialist has indicated the bone graft in his neck has continued to strengthen, however he wants the graft to be 100% solid before Ross plays Rugby League again.

“Our number one priority has always been Ben’s health and we will be following the guidelines set by his surgeon,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said today.

“We won’t be rushing him back and we’re looking forward to Ben receiving the all clear for a return to the field.”

I think he's got rocks in his head wanting to play after a serious neck injury. Time to retire and get on with life outside football.

I would expect that his contract with Souths has all manner of liability waiver clauses in it - at least to the extent it is legally possible to waive liability.

The money Souths bought him for was cheap. I definitely agree on that aspect.
However, say the doctor gives him the clear in round 5. He will have to spend atleast five games in North Sydney to build up his match fitness. By that time in Round 10, I think it would be difficult to drop Geddes.

After the injury he suffered why would you rush him back, even if he's 99% fit I would not risk it.

It's not like he wasting the salary cap sitting out recovering from a broken neck on minimum wage, he could be the bargain buy of the year if returns fully confident and fit.

I feel sorry for the bloke but i agree with the majority of the boys here when i say he really shouldnt be playing.

This is a load of crap.

There have been a number of NFL players who have gone through the same operation and from all reports, their neck comes back stronger than it was before the original incident.

Once given the all clear, he will be taking no greater risk than anyone else in the competition.

On the positive side of things, I was talking to one of the trainers yesterday and he said that Ben Ross looks like being back in two weeks, rather than the 4 or 5 that was mentioned earlier.
