He is without a doubt only number 2 to Matt Cooper as the best defensive centre in the game. He appears to be getting back to his 2005 form. He is very important to our side and is a steadying influence on the makeup of our backline. His attack is also on the improve.

I love Benny, but I don't like drawing comparisons between him and Cooper.

Yes Benny is an awesome defender, he works well in partnership with Grothe and he busts his arse every week.

But Cooper is an all round great centre.

maybe you should see how he constantly dominates his opposing player, I actually believe his the best defensive centre in the comp.

However I wouldn't say it's anymore special than Tim's short kicking game, INU's ability to be the first man, Luke's goal kicking, Hindy's workrate etc...

but seeing you asked the question, I'd like to ask you what do you find special in a player?

yeah i was saying the other day i thnk he is currently the best defensive centre in the game - both one-on-one AND probably more importantly in team defence (which means he makes good choices and covers well for those around him) ..... as for coops, he is still well ahead in attack which i guess is why he's a SOO rep

the point of the thread? - well i guess its someone putting their hand up and acknowledging that ben is doing well on the back of the caning benny got late last year and earlier this year from alot of ppl ... which i think is great - never any harm in giving someone a rap if they deserve it
