Right now, he is shit at league, so it really doesn't matter...

This. Benji is fast becoming the biggest myth in NZ Rugby league. Foran copped a lot of flak on these forums over his test performance, but from memory, the only 2 kicks he took, late in the game, went deep and between the fullback and winger. Marshall kicked the ball right down Slaters throat all night. I would think that taking up a second sport should be the furthest thing from his mind when he is under underperforming so badly at his chosen one.

Thanks MKEB. I have actually been enjoying the 'healthy debate' between yourself and other long term posters since about 2007 if not earlier. Only recently contemplated posting myself after the October test match. I'm a fan of Marshall. don't get me wrong. I think he's a potentially great player. But I think somewhere in the back of his mind he thinks he single handedly won the 2005 GF because of that (admittedly amazing) backhanded flick pass. And he thinks we won the World Cup because he happened to be in the right place at the right time, on the receiving end of that Billy 'Turnstile' Slater moment of madness that swung the game back in our favour. And he definitely thinks he won us the 2010 4N Final because of a line break which led to one of the ugliest tries I have ever seen. But apart from that, What else has he actually done? The great players are consistent. Marshall isn't. Not yet anyway.
Phew. *end rant* :)

It was a MEDIA beat up - FOX Sports News -
Benji Marshall's manager has vigorously denied claims the NRL superstar will be pursuing a contract to play rugby in Japan over the off-season.
While Marshall's manager Martin Tauber was quoted in those reports, he strongly disputed any possibillity the New Zealand skipper would be heading abroad in an exclusive interview with Fox Sports News on Thursday afternoon.
Tauber claimed the idea of juggling the two codes was "impossible" given the possibility of an NRL finals campaign and Marshall's commitments with the Kiwis.
He said he hadn't approached anyone in Japan to try and get a deal done and wouldn't be looking to explore the possibility in the future.

He ain't no Aaron Cruden, Beauden Barrett, Michael Hobbs or Chris Noakes. He would oly be good enough for the Wannabies.

TBH I really have no prob where any players go, if they go about things in the right and honourable fashion. If we lose good Leaguies to Union, well, good luck to them if they really want to switch. It's their life and they can do as they will.

The only time I have an issue is when you have dishonourable, primadonna, ungrateful little shits like SBW, and no amount of Radio Sport mancrush DJs and commentators will change my mind on that. The likes of Veitches etc that accuse callers of jealousy, and the old fave 'tall poppy syndrome' card can't defend his antics at the Bulldogs, the primadonna Mundine vid sent back from France for the Footy show, stoop to accusing his ex coach of rascism etc.

Otherwise I think good luck to them. I can switch jobs if I choose to and go about things properly, so can they.
