Totally unprofessional CEO & Board.. how can you run a business when you act like this. If the CEO were on top of things you would expect he knows what amount of money is available to spend on a player... not make an offer and then realise you have to get rid of someone in the middle of negotiations before the deal is done. Totally inept.

I don't mind either way whether Marshall comes or not...I think it would probably be good for the team, sponsorships etc...but to stuff around like this when you are competing with other clubs to sign up a player who you have decided is a worthwhile acquisition...just incompetence!!!

Why are we surprised? Doust and the board have no idea about how to run a successful club. The speculation about whether he is coming will also have a negative effect on the players.

Doust and the current board would be a great case study for any MBA and business school on how NOT to run a club. Useless. Incompetent. Amateur.

You're new to rugby league, right?

The intricacies of this would be huge. You can't possibly expect all bases to be covered by both parties in 3-4 days once a deal has been agreed upon? Whilst Doust is trying to sign him, Finchy would be trying to get rid of blokes. Weighing up next year and the year after's cap, how does that effect new recruits, 3rd party deals have to be found and registered with the NRL, etc, etc.
Be patient my friend....

You don't just agree to a figure, sign an A4 Dragons letterhead, throw him a pair of socks, shorts and a club polo and be done with it FFS ! The 3rd party deals alone would be a nightmare - THINK FIFITA Vs Bulldogs. Rather than come out and trumpet to all and sundry he has signed, only to be left wiping egg of your face. Due diligence is required by all parties, or have you never entered into a contract before?
Just chill out dudes, if it happens it will be done properly. If not, then it will be because there would be more behind the scenes dramas than you or I are reading about in a forum.
Relax......

Understandable...but still frustrating...mainly due to the media.

I get that mate but keep in mind we are a lot more aware of what's going on than we all used to be 5, 10, 20 years ago. Social media and the internet has done this and we crave instant information.
Our supporters in particular are a pretty savvy lot that get pretty good mail from around the traps. I'm not saying other supporters don't but we have been across this for over almost 2 weeks now...before anything was mentioned by Benji's camp. It was my view that we were late with an offer as the Dragons looked at ways of making this all come together. From what we have read/heard, we are hopefully the more attractive of the offers to Benji. It's not the first time we have taken our time to get things right but certainly since Moltzengate, things are scrutinised a lot more than previously.
Don't believe the media in their entirety either....whatever sells papers to the largest fan base in the country ( The RED V) is printworthy...whether it's true or not is entirely questionable.
Is your News Limited ? :D

I have been following the Benji Marshall saga for over a week now and am totally over it.
I will however continue to follow as I really want us to sign him but the longer it goes the more I get the feeling we will miss out.
If we do miss out on signing him I hope it is not due to our incompetent board and CEO.

Maybe in your little world :sarcasm:

No I don't consider Green a marquee player however based on Doust and his own definition of Dan Hunt as a "marquee" player and the continued inept way this club has been run, I'm sure the CEO will make sure we pay well over his "market value" to keep him at the club.

Yep...probably not.
Salary cap and players available dictate what they are paid at the time of signing.
