Benji - The boys can still bounce back

Last night was shattering. There's no doubt about that. But I'll be doing everything I can to be back next week, assuming St George Illawarra do us a favour today and beat Manly.
I don't know a lot about the injury. I don't know exactly what it is. All I know is that it hurts.
Our club doctor has told me I haven't damaged the medial ligament, which is a good thing because as soon as it happened I thought I had. I thought it was bad. But the doc told me it wasn't the medial, so I can only be hopeful.

There is apparently a lot of bruising around it, as well as fluid. I've just got to ice it up as much as I can and reassess tomorrow. I'll be doing everything I can to get it right.
I tried to play on and stayed out there for 10 minutes or so when we had no interchanges - I thought I'd have to stay out there. But in the end I just couldn't run on it.
It was so weird watching on from the sidelines. That's the only way I can describe it.
If I sound upbeat it's because I am.
Even after losing like that, we can bounce back. We had many chances to win it and even though it cost us, we can also take some positives out of that. I think it was a good performance by us. Some of our forwards had to stay out there for longer than we'd hoped and we defended for long periods.
The possession turned and a few bounces went their way. Everyone's obviously pretty disappointed. But for the time being, our season's not over yet. And while we're still in it, I still think we can be dangerous.
We played some good football, and I think it could have gone either way. As strange as it sounds, I still think we can take a lot from that game. I don't think we played that bad. We were all pretty shattered and down, but our coach Tim Sheens was positive afterwards.
He said it was one of the most courageous efforts he has seen from our club. Toddy Payten spoke after Tim did, and then a couple more guys followed. We had heaps of chances to put the game away, and unfortunately we couldn't.
Speaking of which, I'm not sure what was happening in the first half with that fight with Mitchell Pearce.
I'll keep my hands to myself in the future. A few things happened in the tackle, and then obviously they cancelled out the try to Gareth Ellis when there were a few punches thrown. You don't think about the possibility of those things in the heat of the moment.
That's football, things happen.
You don't go out there and plan to do things like that. The funny thing is, I like Pearcey. We had a little hug afterwards. Hopefully we can be around long enough to play them again - and get a different result

Personally, the interpretation of that rule that denied Ellis his 3rd disallowed try is pretty stupid, it was pretty obvious Pearce had no intention/chance to tackle Ellis, fair enough put someone on report or sin bin them, but disallow a try?

Maybe i'm just a bit sour since I was going for you guys against the chooks, but that call really irked me.

Personaly i think we can bounce back, or at the least have a dam good shot at the raiders. Whan you look at our side they are a pretty tough bunch.. Blokes like heighno and ellis are machines and if they have to play everyday they would without giving less than 100% together with Folks conditioning this year should see us thru.. Beware the wounded tiger !

The raiders have been walking the do or die tight rope for weeks and have been the underdogs for quite some time,,, this time the shoe is on the other foot, we are the underdog with nothing to loose. Fortune in our favour has to turn, could it be this weekend ?

I think I had a thread with some stats in it a while ago showing Benji has never lost a match against Canberra and every player in our side has a win % against the reiders over 50%.

And I'm pretty sure we beat them last time we played down there

We did earlier this year. We came back from 18 or so points down. Its going to be a massive ask to get this game, Im not prepared to write them off though. Lets hope the injury gods are kind.
