Benji's Field Goal

Was that just insane or what?!

Mind you, it was a hugely risky play from that far out.

I thought Lockyers field goal in Origin III was immense, but benji outdid it by 5 metres.

Probably the best I've ever seen.

However, aside from that Benji was his usual rubbish. He's been very sh*t lately.

Hopefully he's working up to something.
But yeah....nothing medium or average about benji, its either awesome or garbage

Benji is a great ball runner forced into becoming a playmaker and he is only as good as his ball runners. If the backrowers, centres and fullback are doing their job and giving Benji or whoever the playmakers are options, it makes their job easy.
Before bagging Benji, have a think about how many willing ball runners he has each time he gets the ball.
Ayshford wouldn`t run out of sight in a dark foggy paddock, I don`t think we can win the comp with him as a starting centre. We also need more line busts from our back row, all the other top sides have dangerous running back rowers, we only currently have one in Simon Dwyer who is only getting minimal game time. McKinnon is slowly getting better, but still has a fair way to go if he`s to get anywhere near his best form.
Point is we can win the comp, but changes need to be made, we won`t win the comp by scoring 14 or 15 points each week that`s for sure and certain !

He has alot of runners set but calls them inside on decoys.

Also because of his unpredictability with kicking etc goes it forces the outside backs to stand up a little more than is ideal for backline plays

When I say runners I mean ball runners that the defence is worried about. Some of the blokes in our side are easily taken one on one every time they run the ball, others such as Lawrence, Daniela and Dwyer are a handfull nearly every time they get the ball with room to move.

I want to see Lote offering a hard run to the inside shoulder on occasion as well.

I agree, if we had capable wingers I think Lote would give us much more value in the centres or at fullback, problem being we don`t have too many other wingers that are safe under the high ball.

I would almost be willing to say Ayshford should be given a try on the wing.

He is a very strong ball runner on kick returns, is actually quicker than Ryan over 40 and 100m in the club trials and is very good under a high ball from lower grades at least

I must say too, we were very lucky that Heighington put his hand up and had an absolute cracker of a game, it more than made up for the loss of Ellis.

No Ellis-two halfbacks out- and both wingers gone.......

Exactly. The last 2 games would not have been won in past seasons.
It's a sign of a good team that does not play to its best but still wins.

We have plenty of improvement in us and can build a run to the finals just like parra last year and us in '05.

The word is that TNT is not going to be offered a new contract even if fit

Understandable. Sad, but understandable. I can recall some past comment that his type of ankle injury rarely, if ever, recovers to the previous ability and quite often 'that is it folks' for any type of football or pressure on the joint and support area of the ankle.

Nothing has been confirmed, but I hope a decision is made early and not last minute. I'd hate for WT to miss an opportunity to recruit a good replacement for the NRL squad and allow the ither clubs to cherry pick the better quality players.

I had TNT in mind when I posed the question whether WT should make a play for Michael Gordon from Penrith.

Ryan has improved a bit this year. A bit of confidence has helped him immensely.

I suffered a similar injury to TNT a few years ago, ended my competitive sport career in League and Cricket. Extensive and severe damage to bone, tendons and ligaments in the ankle, completely f**ked. Doctor said there's a good chance I'll end up some form of osteoperosis in the joint further down the track.

I'd love for Tuiaki to return but I fear it may not happen. If he does it won't be at the same effect as before which is sad.

Tigers should do something for him though, give him a gig teaching the team how to run hard at the defence or some such thing

Definitely agree- although his playing days may end, I'd like to think WT would make use of him in promoting the club and the game.

If i can just get back on topic for a second....

Remember the one Willis that kicked against Norths in 1996? 46m right on the siren to win the game 23-22.

I remember the paper took him back a couple of days later to see if he could do it again. They gave him 10 shots.....and he missed them all!

Indeed as has already been stated. That kick of benjis will be spoken about for quite some time
