I'm filthy on Oconnor for speaking to the media the way he did. How can the rest of the board trust him? I think his talking to the media is divisive (at best) and has potential to create much deeper and less public ramifications than any of us will ever know. He has really pissed me off!

It has all become clear...if O'Connor is typical of the calibre of person on the board it explains why we are in the position we are in. He is only interested in the power/ politics of being part of management and like the other Illawarra representatives seems to be more interested in reinforcing their own powerbase than actually having the clubs best interest at heart.

Haven't the board and CEO learnt anything from the last 3 years? Appointing another rookie coach will only put us back another 5 years. Who cares if the players like him, play for him etc. we need someone with experience who can a. Attract quality players to the club b. play consistent footy each week c. Win a comp.

Not sure he'd be able to get John Morris to the club but I reckon the current Australian coach would have a better chance of getting quality players over a rookie coach who's coached 6 games.

There seems to be something of an Illawarra revolt going on. At the very least a board member apparently breaking ranks with his fellows and maybe even undertaking a course of action through the media to prevent us getting Bennett in favour of one of their own. One thing for Sure When Bennett read all this crap his decision would have been easier..

Being a rep coach doesn't mean sh*t for recruitment anymore. Being a successful coach does.
Outside of the 05 title, sheens has done absolutely jack sh*t for almost 20 years.

It didn't matter what the media or O'connor said or how Doust handled it. Bennett was always going to Brisbane if there was a job for him. They originally spoke to him in May and there only decision was whether to get rid off Hook to make way. Even Bennett ringing News Limited on the rise for Alex day to get the job showed his intent. The only hope we had is if Brisbane said no and even then they paid $4 million!
