It's actually pretty frightening how badly playing Rugby League has f**ked up their health.

Mario on the footy show the other night was difficult to watch as I genuinely think there is something wrong with him. I actually felt sorry for him

Benny on the other hand is different, I think he's just a f*%kwit

I think mario has been quite open about his brain issues stemming from multiple concussions in his career

I had the fortune to spend some time with Benny on two different occassions. First time I was at the Tigers GF Luncheon as a guest of a business associate and Steve Ghosn. After the lunch we all went back to Balmain Leagues (a story in itself as a Wests Director threatened to punch my head in and it took an ex Wests Coach - Ghosn to calm him down). We spent the night at a table with Sirro for a while and Benny and Scotty Gale. Gale was in the final stages of motor neurone disease. You couldnt have met a nicer guy than Benny, great company and he looked after Scotty Gale like a silkworm, looked after him totally and I left feeling Benny was a quality human and misunderstood.

Some years later I was at a Business dinner out in the Macarthur and for some reason Benny was a special guest. A business mate of mine paid for a limo to pick him (and a couple of girls) up and drag him out to the the SW. Spent the night bitching about how far it was, crap limo etc etc. Pure Rockstar performance.

It was like they were two different guys.

Wow. Interesting what some time makes.

What did you do to piss him off?

I'd be more worried about people who expect RL players to be mental giants, sometimes I also wonder how many supporters understand what NRL quality players forego on the way to the top

I don't think many doubt the outright stupidity of most ex (and current) players.

I think its more stunned surprise that they actually let f*ckwits like Elias near a TV studio.

There are plenty of blokes who swim in the deeper end of the gene pool to do the TV stuff.

At the fan day, Mario was there, but the lights weren't on. It was genuinely sad because it was him but not him, if that makes sense. He was polite and friendly and big smiles, but he sounded like an 80 year old with Alzheimers. And yeah, I def felt sorry for him. Scary too because he's not really that old.

Yeah Mario isn't in a good way.

Look at who are asking the questions, Rothfield, Crawley, Ritchie, Kent, what's their excuse? Real mental giants of the zoo.

Very sad about Mario. One of the most passionate players I've ever seen.

It is sad.

These guys wouldnt have made a lot out of playing back in the day. Smashed themselves silly in pursuit of glory and for our entertainment.
