Not an Australian one but just wondering where this one came from?

I'll take a stab - Sri Lankan tour of NZ sometime in the early to mid 80s.

The only reason we wear green in one dayers these days is because the comm bank logo wouldn't stand out on yellow. They don't sponsor our shirts when we play overseas.

Once comm bank no longer sponsor us we will change back to yellow. I can't wait, hate the dark green... We look like Pakistan

Which makes me wonder in 2015 will Australia wear green in the World Cup or will it be Yellow cause it's an ICC event

If there is no sponsor on the jersey - we will wear yellow.

Just like we did last World Cup

In World Cups they only have spornsors on the sleeve

They have the country's name emblazened across the front of their shirts

It was launched prior to the Commonwealth Bank coming on board as the sponsor.

It was too. Also seen a version of that one with the VB Logo on it. Australia A
Maybe after quarter of a century of being dubbed canary yellow they finally got fed up with it

Did we ever play in it without the logo? I'm pretty convinced it is the only reason we wear green.

I think the ODI series at the time was without a sponsor - it was previously VB, but the Commonwealth Bank did sign up before the start of that summer's series v England, hence the clean look in that pic. Even if it was still the gold strip, I imagine the Commonwealth Bank logo may have been on a black background, like the on grass signage this summer.

I believe we started to wear green because the baggy green 'bottle green' is seen as our national colour in cricket.

I found it strange that we've started to wear yellow or Australian gold on the collars of the test shirts, yet continue to wear the green.

Bring back the Australian gold.

Colour wise, I prefer predominantly green to yellow. They stuffed up with the metallic gold trim though. Looks much better with yellow.

Design wise, the 99 World Cup shirt and the one they wore in 89/90 (with the green stripe across the chest and right sleeve and "Australia" in script) are the best.
