Darren Lockyer was responsible for a lot of match winning plays during his career. Now that he's retired, who do you rate as the NRL's best "clutch" or "go to" player when the game is in the balance ?

Cameron Smith by a mile. JT and Benji probably next.

If I wanted a player in the last two minutes to win me something Smith would be it. Benji not far away as he has shown at test level many times.

Obviously he isnt in the same league as a couple of the other guys mentioned. But Chris Sandow would have to be up there.

Had a great year last year, and there should be no reason why it doesn't continue this season.

Thurston (self explanitory)
Smith (may not always come up with a huge play, but will NEVER take a bad option)
Inglis (he's scored the big try so many times)

For the Dragons from years gone by I would have to say Blacklock, Mundine and Gasiner.

For overall "clutch player" I would have to say Andrew Johns.

Marshall, Hayne, Slater & Sandow are similar because they try some high risk moves that can see them be a hero or zero. Others like Smith & Thurston mightn't seem as spectacular, but they are more consistent.

'clutch player' yet another stupid term from the NFL the commentators will adopt this year. Why can't we try to keep rugby league as an Australian game. Even the term 'game breaker' comes from the NFL.

Yeah, Inglis is a lethal option in attack & has scored crucial tries in big games. However, he seems to need a spark from one of the others to give him that opportunity. ie - he doesn't come looking for the ball & make it happen
