yes but we know the scoreline didnt reflect the game

tht game had everything

even had every style of play

grindy first half
flashy second

can anyone say it was definately not the best game of all time? you might be unsure of it actually being the best, but can you literally disprove it, or mad your mind up?
Your attempt to take the piss has failed, hardly anyone has even paid attention

For the BULLDOGS:

non-finals game: Newcastle vs Bulldogs in 2002 where the bulldogs came back from 19-0 down at halftime only to win the game from hazems conversion on the sideline.

Finals game: Bulldogs vs parra in 98 where the dogs coming back from 18-2 down in the 2nd half against the eels and we have to go through to extra time to see who will go to the gf...

For the other NRL teams:

non-finals game: Brisbane vs Newcastle... Newcastle were joeyless and the match went into golden pt when gidley has done an un-orthodox field goal which won newcastle the game.

Finals game: the 99 gf between melbourne and st george and that was when the merger proved to be a success when the st. george illawarra made the gf in their first year... 107,000 fans at stadium australia... witness the biggest shock in rl history when a penalty try was awarded to melbourne when ainscough knocked out smith (is it?) on try line and that won melbourne the gf...

Raiders games:
This year: Coming back from 18-0 down at Penrith to win 26-18.
Recent times: Two matches against the Warriors come to mind, the 17-16 loss in the 2003 semis, and for sheer atmosphere and excitement, the 2004 golden point win 30-29 at Canberra Stadium.

Non-Raiders games:
2003 grand final.

Of course, none of these can really match the memorable games of the past, but as you said this should be done on recent memory.

2002 Prelim final Roosters V Broncos.

That game was good right up till Mullins scored the match winner from an intercept where he was offside

Broncos
2005...smashing the eels after being smashed the week before by the storm.
1993...23-16 over the dogs in the prelim final.

best game i have seen all time is the dogs vs eels 1998 prelim final. I was there and the atmosphere was great....the game wasnt too bad either!

That game was awesome, both sides had several players out including the likes of Johns as mentioned and Lockyer. Yet both teams lifted despite the injury tolls.

Anyone producing a game pre 1998 in this thread is quite stupid.

Posible the standout would be the '99 decider. Plenty of club games, though. The recent Parra v Saints was a classic,if only for the controversy. The Sharks v Warriors semi a few years back. ditto Roosters and Knights - Freddy's long passes getting beyond Tahu.

North Queensland v Brisbane in last years semi was outstanding.

Everyone is just saying games their team won, boring! Watching one team smash another, only enjoyable if it's your team piling on the points! Tigers V Sharks best game of the year? As If!

In recent memory the most entertaining and exciting match was Bulldogs V Cowboys quaterfinal last year.

A few different categories for me.

As a Saints fan - Saints v Roosters Anzac Day this year. It was close, high quality, awesome atmosphere, and got the dragons out of the early season slump. Also, Saints v Bulldogs in 2001 semi-final at Homebush Showground, Saints winning by a point.

Highest quality game - Warriors v Broncos at Ericsson Stadium in 2003. It had the lot, brilliant attack, smashing defence (Villisanti & Meli made some of the biggest hits in recent times), and a brawl to boot. It had it all.

Sheer enjoyment - Cowboys v Roosters semifinal last year. Cowbangers just fell short, but played their guts out and the Roosters had to play at their best to beat them. If they'd have won it would have been one of the best games of all time.
It sh*ts me how often the Channel 9 commentators will label a game, "the best game I have seen" so often.

That game was awesome, there was so much going on in the first half that it ran for over an hour! Tate, Webcke and McGuire probably don't remember it so fondly though.

Parra v Manly Cumberland oval 1981 - final match played on that ground. It was a beauty. Ended in a 22 all draw....
