Dante: I'm stuck in this pit, earning less than slave wages, working on my day off, dealing with every backward f**k on the planet, the goddamn steel shutters are locked all day, I smell like shoe polish, I've got an ex-girlfriend who's catatonic after f**king a dead guy, and my present girlfriend has sucked thirty-six dicks. Randal: Thirty-seven --- Dante: I can't f**king believe you! Randal: I'm telling you it was'nt my fault! Dante: You knocked the f**king casket over, for Chrissakes! Randal: I was just leaning on it! It was an accident! Dante: Does anyone ever knock over a casket on purpose? Randal: So the casket fell over! Big deal! Dante: Her f**king body fell out!
---- Randal: An embolism in a pool. Dante: An embarrassing way to die. Randal: That's nothing compared to how my cousin Walter died. Dante: How'd he die? Randal: He broke his neck. Dante: That's embarrassing? Randal: He broke his neck trying to suck his own dick ---- Veronica: You men make me sick. You'll sleep with anything that says yes. Dante: Animal, vegetable or mineral. Veronica: Vegetable meaning paraplegic. Dante: They put up the least amount of struggle I swear I give the best presents!

"Look at me. Look at me. Look - at - me."

Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) before he pumps Waingro full of lead. Inspirational.

"Do not have any attachments, do not have anything in your life you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you spot the heat around the corner."
Neilexplaining his life philosophy. A great man. "He knew the risks, he didn't have to be there. It rains...you get wet." Neil again, this time on the death of one of his closest friends. I love this guy.

Wall Street

"The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms - greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge - has marked the upward surge of mankind, and greed - you mark my words - will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporationcalled the USA."

The great Gordon Gekko.

Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) - "Why do you need to wreck this company?"

Gekko - "Because it's wreckable, all right?!"

Gordon telling it how it is.

"You see that building? I bought that building ten years ago. My first real estate deal. Sold it two years later, made an $800,000 profit. It was better than sex. At the time I thought that was all the money in the world. Now it's a day's pay."
Again, the ever-humble Gordon Gekko.

Sensational MM. I love that movie and Michael Douglas did his best ever work in that film. The thing you forgot to mention about the last quote was he was lighting a cigarette and talking so casual about it all. Beautiful. Can you dig up the line where he talks about the "400 thou a year working wall street stiff".

Wall Street

Bud Fox - What about hard work?

Gordon Gekko - What about it? You work hard? Bet you stayed up all night analyzing that dog-shit stock you gave me, huh? Where’d it get ya? My father, he worked like an elephant pushing electrical supplies until he dropped dead at 49 with a heart attack and tax bills. Wake up, will ya, pal? If you are not inside, you are outside, okay. And I’m not talking about some $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff, flying first class and being comfortable. I’m talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, Buddy. A player. Or nothing.
Now, you had what it took to get into my office. The real question is whether you’ve got what it takes to stay.

Gekko- When I get a hold of the son of a bitch who leaked this, I'm gonna tear his eyeballs out and I'm gonna suck his f**king skull!
Bud - This is really a nice club, Mr. Gekko.
Gekko- Yeah, not bad for a City College boy. I bought my way in, now all these Ivy league schmucks are sucking my kneecaps.
Heat Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) - So you never wanted a normal life? Neil McCauley - What the f**k is that? Barbeques and ballgames?

The Godfather Part 2

Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) -"There are many things my father taught me here in this room. He taught me: keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."

Michael Corleone - "If anything in this life is certain, if history has taught us anything, it is that you can kill anyone."
Michael Corleone - "Fredo, you're nothing to me now. You're not a brother, you're not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do. I don't want to see you at the hotels, I don't want you near my house. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won't be there. You understand?"

Se7en Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) - "Ernest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part."
John Doe (Kevin Spacey) - "On the subway today, a man came up to me to start a conversation. He made small talk, a lonely man talking about the weather and other things. I tried to be pleasant and accommodating, but my head hurt from his banality. I almost didn't notice it had happened, but I suddenly threw up all over him. He was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing."

Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back Yoda- "You must unlearn what you have learned."
Luke - "I can't. It's too big."
Yoda - "Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not."
Luke - "Alright, I'll give it a try."
Yoda - "No! Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try."
Luke - "I don't believe it."
Yoda - "That is why you fail."
Darth Vader - "No. I am your father."

Moffo: 'I think therefore I am' is centuries old and I believe comes from the writings of French philosopher, Descartes.
Its a question without a question mark.
Someone may have a different origin to the term but I'm pretty sure it was Decartes in the 17th century.

Yeah, i thought it may have had a bit more of a history to it Willow, the line itself is to deep and meaningful for 99% of the movies that Hollywood churn out these days ;)

13th Floor??? Ah, thank goodness someone in here has a good memory! Cheers El

I know this a bit off the subject and really should have its own section but Descartes came up with a few great lines. It got me thinking and researching....

In the 17th century, Descartes introduced the now famous Latin phrase "cogito ergo sum," or in English "I think, therefore I am."
When he said this, he was provoking questions on the existence of consciousness.

IMO, his greatest quote is:

"If you would be a real seeker after truth,
it is necessary that at least once in your life

you doubt, as far as possible, all things."
—René Descartes

Brilliant.

Pulp Fiction
Zed - Bring out the Gimp.

Maynard - But the Gimp's sleeping.

Zed - Well, I guess you better go and wake him up then.

This leads into the most beautiful love scene in cinema history.

Pulp Fiction again - when aforementioned "love scene" is brutally interrupted, there's another classic:

BUTCH
You okay?
MARSELLUS
Naw man. I'm pretty f**kin' far
from okay!
Long pause.
BUTCH
What now?
MARSELLUS
What now? Well let me tell you
what now. I'm gonna call a couple
pipe-hittin' n****rs, who'll go to
work on homes here with a pair of
pliers and a blow torch.
(to Zed)
Hear me talkin' hillbilly boy?! I
ain't through with you by a damn
sight. I'm gonna git Medieval on
your ass.
