The Killers - Mr. Brightside
ELO - Sweet Talking Woman
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World
Len - Steal My Sunshine
??? - Always something there to remind me
Eskimo Joe - Older Than You
Cutting Crew - I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight
The Cure - Friday I'm in Love
Hall and Oates - Out of Touch

Sad thing is I'm 15 and I mostly listen to old songs...then again there isn't too much to like about the newer stuff.

Sing along at home:

Pretty girl on the hood of a cadillac, yeah

She's broken down on Freeway 9.

I take a look, I get her engine started, and

leave her purring and I roll on by. Bye, bye

Free love on the freelove freeway, the

Love is free and the freeway's long, I got some

Hot love on the hotlove highway, ain't

Going home 'cause my baby's gone (she's gone)

A little while later, see a Senorita,

She's caught a flat trying to make it home.

She says, "Por favor, can you pump me up?"

I say, "Muchos gracias, adios. Bye, bye."

A long time later I see a cowboy crying

"Hey buddy, what can I do?"

He says, "I lived a good life, had about a thousand women,"

I said, "Why the tears?", he says, " ' Cause none of them was you".

*1000. I actually have it on my iPod.

Great thread. Good to see some hidden gems of songs get a mention eg The Freshmen, Thunder Road... I too could go on for ages and it changes all the time.

But usually if asked my favourite I go with Blush by The Hummingbirds. Mainly because of it's associations for me on top of the pleasant buzz of the song or the meaning of lyrics themselves... one of the first Sydney independent label bands to get a song in the top 20 and on mainstream radio, and opened my eyes to a whole world of music that I hadn't known. It was 1989 and I was 16 years old, and it made me think "sh*t, any of my friends could write and play music too".
