Officially, yes, he played for 2 clubs. I and most Manly fans consider him to be a 1 club player but if he is to be denied that by the NRL then you would have to say that the poor record of the Northern Eagles should not be reflected in Manly's success (or lack thereof) over the period in question.

You hit the nail on the head. Every Manly fan considers him a 1 club player yet you aren’t willing to take the Northern Eagles results as your own. Either it is 2 clubs, the results don’t count and Menzies along with a lot of others are 2 club players or it is 1 club and the results count.

You missed what I said immediately preceeding that. Officially, Menzies played for 2 clubs, therefore we must consider the results of Manly and the NE as separate. I go back to my previous point, do you think Taylor, Muir, etc would entertain the idea they ever played for Manly?

Seriously, the GF was almost three weeks ago.

Get over it.

The Sydney Roosters are not Eastern suburbs but a new entity with no history

Manly was removed for three years but is historically more significant than Sydney as we are 1947

Because someone suggested that had Parra won in 2001 they would have statistically been the greatest ever. Not just in NRL history ... ever.

I was just pointing out the 1935 Easts team had the greatest single season statistically ever.

Since the inaugural NRL season in '98 Melbourne have won the Shield 4 times, double that of anyone else . . . since that's all I care about and dismiss Gallop's cap bullshit I revel in being part of the minority view

*1

You can peddle this line until eternity, but it's patently false. Melbourne are a good team, but the fact remains - they had everything stripped between 2006-2010. You don't have to like it and it's pretty clear you don't agree with the penalties handed down.

That changes nothing.

They cheated. They were punished. They results achieved in those years count for nothing.
Subsequently, they have finished top of the table on one occasion.

Quit moaning about being caught cheating and just move on.

For mine, Brisbane and Manly are top of the pile, Easts can join them with another premiership in the next couple of years if they manage one. They are well placed to have a shot.

You need to stay in the shallow end my friend . . . can't be many of you left.

Then again, what am I doing explaining how a soc prolongs attention in himself, especially when there's f**k all else to talk about . . . kinda defeats the purpose

Not that it matters, nothing's going to stop either of us saying what we say . . . maybe when you get older you'll appreciate a purpose

The standard POPEYE response: "I'm old and know better blah blah blah wading pool".

Enjoy your few remaining years, don't spend them pining for things that never really existed.

Senses, don't mess with Popeye. He's a columnist for a major newspaper, The Popeye Times, and he used to be an associate of an associate who used to be an associate of someone who was an associate of a guy who knew some guys who rode motorbikes.

He's tuff.

Oh the irony in someone not capable of grasping the concept of cheats being caught and penalised then telling others to "stay in the shallow end".

Keep up the rants old digger. One day something will work.
