I don't think any journos have asked Fitz in any press conferences so it may be an in-house personal thing for BHU and the press have been asked not to delve into it.

I think he's just injured and since the Sharks keep injuries on the down low it just hasn't come out yet.

If I was a guessing man he's tweaked his knee that he had surgery on. Would also be why I think he was getting small minutes as they're mindful of the load on it.
