Could probably work.
The original Digicel Cup team from Lae (1990-2012) was called the Lae Bombers.
It got replace by the Lae Tigers in 2013.

The Bombers moniker was used because Lae once housed bomber squadrons for both the Japs and afterwards also for the Allies.

I'm starting to think maybe the Team should be named after any of the many natural disasters that hits PNG from time to time.
Maybe won't be popular but the Rabaul Gurias in the Digicel Cup is named after Earthquakes because their volcanic island constantly has earthquakes and the odd volcanic eruption.

So maybe;
PNG Cyclones
PNG Tsunamis
PNG King Tides
PNG Frost
PNG Landslide
PNG Drought
PNG Floods
PNG Fire
