I thought the last angle showed the ball hit the stumps before his shoulder.

It went straight past the stumps and didn't touch a thing. If he hadn't disturbed the stumps himself there would have been no doubt.

No it didn't. They just froze it as it was going past on an angle that made it look like it might have hit but all other evidence shows it didn't.

I'm afraid physics disagrees too.

Had the ball hit it would not have continued on the trajectory it did, it would have deviated. The only way would be if it clipped the far stump but rimmington had already hit that stump himself so it still couldn't have been out.

Yeahbit didn't hit, the only stump it could possibly hit, for the ball to continue on the path it was going was the one nearest to Rimmington, as the ball went behind the stumps, it is impossible.
