I went Calvin over Jet and definitely regret it. He was probably the biggest letdown of the day for me. Not to say he was the worst, but I had pretty high hopes and came out fairly meh...

Mind you I left with 10 or 15 mins of his set left and apparently the end was the highlight.

I miss Absolution-era Muse.

As do I....

Although only because it meant they were still close enough to shoebox album to play sunburn and showbiz at gigs. Citizen erased was also a regular back then.

Not to say I don't like their new stuff, love it actually, but looking forward to the day when they realise they can play a 2.5 hour concert with the amount of music they have to choose from these days

I went on Friday. Had a great day once the hangover from the Mastodon side show wore off. It was just too hot.

Blue Juice - 5/10. Not a big fan, they were not bad.

Karnivool - 7/10. Really good performance, the singer pulls it off live.

Mastodon - 8/10. Like me, I think they were feeling seedy from the night before. The crowd was sweltering and didn't seem to get it. They played flawless though although I'm not sure Crack the Skye in its entirety was the best choice of set list for the BDO. Just happy I caught the sideshow because that was brilliant.

Regular John - 6/10. I dig these guys. Lots of energy and rockin riffs.

Tumbleweed - 7/10. Blast from the past. Loved every minute of it especially the Daddy Long Legs finale!

Lily Allen - 3/10. Not my cup of tea. Nice legs though.

Mars Volta - 10/10. Highlight of the day by far. Absolutely mind blowing. My biggest complaint when I have seen them in the past is the set list is crap, but not this time. A couple of songs from every album. I was there with some friends who hadn't heard them before and they were pretty much in awe by the end of the set. Please tell me Channel V recorded that set.

Powderfinger - 6/10. Look the missus loves them and they do have some catchy tunes. But in between the Mars Volta and Muse they just seem bland. Why they ignore their back catalogue (Double Allergic etc) I don't know.

Muse - 8/10. Was really impressed. They were awesome live and the light show was amazing. I haven't really enjoyed their new stuff but it is heaps better live. AC/DC tribute was awesome.

Fear factory - 8/10. Great set list, personal fave was Martyr! Sounded great with the different line-up. Only downer was the injured dude in the pit which stopped the show Hope he's OK. I'm sure we would have got Replica to finish off.

All in all, a great day. I had low expectations of this BDO which may be why I enjoyed it so much.

I'm a Calvin fan, but I went Jet instead... did I miss a good one did I?

I was tossing up but since I saw Jet at the green day gig I went for CH.

I liked it alot, the end was definently the highlight, kinda like a slow build and then tore the house down at the end!

I like he plays his stuff with a live band, I have a bit more respect for that.

Groove Armarda were shyte.
