in headliner value maybe but in the fact soundwave only has international acts and dont get just 'fillers' for the day like BDO does, SW is far superior at the moment

true but we don't know the whole lineup yet. I love those 3 bands listed and if I was to attend their sideshow it would cost more then the admission price. There's bound to be Grinspoon, Gyroscope, BOT, Amy Meredith or decent oz bands in the lineup somewhere. I will prob attend both but it I have to choose so far BDO wins

id probs go to coz i love stp and soundgarden! but i dunno for some reason the aussie bands they put on the mainstage the past couple years havnt done anything for me and this year on the side stage i saw grinners and they shat all over bands such as karnivool and powderfinger who were on main stage! BDO is great for the atmosphere but i usually find myself just half hearted during the day unlike SW where im rushing and cant wait to see bands from the moment i get there to the time i leave. BDO last year i had to wait till like midday/1pm for mastodon and then had to try fill in time for rise against 3 hrs later. thats the only problem i have with BDO

I love that even after years on this forum people come on and bag other people's music tastes like their opinions on music are fact.

Music is purely subjective, and everyone likes different stuff. If you don't like Blink, that's nice. Others are allowed. Same goes for any other band.

For the record I'm not that fussed on Blink myself.

i loved blink back in the day but now after angels and airwaves (from the clips ive seen) tom has tried to adapt his singing style from a and a to blink, just doesnt do anything for me tbh

I feel the same. The way I look at BDO if there's enough international bands to cover the cost, I will go. Lets face it during the year they always pop up. Last year IMO the lineup was rubbish so I just went to SW. Faith no More and shinedown were the favs for me.

You always find a gem hidden away on the smaller stages. THe year Metallica was there. I discovered Lost prophets. I am sure someone will pop up on a smaller stage

totally agree with the small stages and finding bands! at BDO in 05 when slipknot, system played and beastie boys headlined i found Rise Against couldnt be happier but with SW i found mindless self indulgence in 08, The Subways and maylene and the sons of disaster in 09, 2010 i found Glassjaw.

Thank f**k KoL aren't playing...that would've almost counter-balanced the awesomeness of blink

I think the fact we are discussing whether to attend or not on 3 possible headliners from the 90's shows that it was.

It's not BDO fault new music sucks these days have you watched V or listened to NOVA. It's all rnb and dance rubbish gone are the days of old fashioned hard rock sadly.

Don't get me wrong there's the odd decent new rock band but most or pop rubbish. We were spoilt in the 90's Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Offspring, Green Day, STP, Soundgarden, Bush. Ahhh the memories

Music hasn't become better or worse. That is impossible given musical taste is simply a matter of opinion.

The only thing that has changed is that you are older now and don't like whats music has evolved into.

I am a rocker through and through. How many rock song are in the charts album and singles?? That's what I base it on. Someone who likes rnb and dance would prob say it's improved

Well I am stuffed if I know who will Headline. Today's clue is the 2 headline bands never broke up. Ruling out Blink, STP and Soundgarden they may play but not headline. GD possibly. They never broke up, Live in LA and Could play an album in full American Idiot as it's won tony awards as a play

No it's gotten worse.

I went to see Regurgitator last night. A fantastic blast from the past, when music used to be good. What was interesting was that the crowd was all around my age (late 20's) or a little older, so I'm certain I'm not alone in my thoughts.

For me though, I tend to like and listen to Australian music more, and there's no comparison between the bands today and the bands of 10 years ago.

And I can guarantee in ten years time, today's generation will be using that same line, almost word for word. And the generation after that, and the one after that, etc.

Took the words out of my mouth.

There's still plenty of good bands out there, you just have to be willing to look a little deeper.

Music changes, trends and generations come and go, that's normal.

Biggest difference with BDO compared to years ago is the type of people that go along.
