The first 17 acts will be announced this Thursday on their website, Twitter and FB.

I've been following someone on Twitter, who is called the Big Day out Spy, who has announced most. If the headliners are true, I am excited, particularly the main band.

If you want to know, send me a PM

That guys full of crap, half the stuff he "announced" has already been proved false by the bands.

I'm already anticipating that the line up will suck donkey dick just like precious years...

It's going to go either of two ways :

* A vast improvement on previous years.

* Totally sucky.

Personally, I'm treating Harvest as my 'Summer' festival. An overall better lineup than any BDO of the past five years and cheaper too.

yeh, I'm the same way with Soundwave but I'll wait and see

Ramstein and Tool were worth the price of admission alone last year

As a rock fan BDO has sucked the last few years. It seems to concentrate with the dance/rnb acts & get rubbish rock bands. Yet always sells out no matter how poor the lineup is

Was going to try to get in before the "it was way better when I as younger" type posts.... but I see I've already been pipped on that one

After the constant "blink 182 is going to headline" rumours for the last 3 years I thought that maybe this year it would FINALLY be true with the new album being out and all.... but apparently they are already a definite no.

Will go regardless as I always do. Always manage to find some good acts on the day and really, its just a great festival.

Oh, and with the death of Zyzz I can now make a play for new king of the douchebags.... Anyone got some roids? :sarcasm:

My observation is that over the years BDO gradually went from being the premier "alternative" music festival with acts that were truly out of the mainstream to an "event" with mediocre entertainment a la Lily Allen, Jet, Wolfmother etc to appeal to people who don't really care about music. They just wanna go and hang out with their fashionista/bogan mates in the drinks tent in their brand new Travisty, Quicksilver etc clothes and be seen.

the likes of Soundwave do more to cater for true music fans than any other festival.

Oh dude, tell me about it.

At Conception Day (Mac Uni) the other week, there were Zyzz lookalike's everywhere. One was wearing a pair of shorts that'd make a stripper look like the pope.

The problem with soundwave is that they have no idea what organisation is. the Sydney venues have been TBA a week out from the date in the past, not to mention crazy stuff like running out of bottled water.

When they get their act together though it will be a truly great festival.

I thought Soundwave 2011 was the best festival I've ever been to but I agree about the organisation, I thought the best bands were on the secondary stages and the only decent band all day on the main stage was Primus and they had their set cut short by 10 minutes because they allowed Stonesour to go over by 10 minutes which really pissed me off.

The water thing in '10 was crazy... The only place you could get bottled water after about 2pm was inside the over age areas, I'm surprised some kids didn't die that day. It was like 43 degrees out, no shade anyway, the place was a dust bucket so the ground just radiated heat... I spent $130 that day, ate food once and spent the rest on water until it ran out, and I only went to the bathroom once it was that bloody hot. Even the water fountains ran dry. It looked more like a warzone than a festival with lines about 100m long to get medical attention in some places.

I hate soundwave with a passion but the pricks always get good bands making me buy a ticket and go "well maybe this year will surprise me", but it never does, the one year I didn't go it was actually a good day out apparently.

I'm going to harvest festival in a months time, organised by the same turds, hopefully it doesn't resemble hell on earth again. It should be a bit more sedate so here's hoping.

I personally didn't have too many problems with the organisation of Soundwave 2011 in Brisbane. I had adequate access to water, when I needed a break I just went up into the shaded grand stand to chill out for a bit and have some lunch. My only real gripes for the day were concerning band set lists and stage allocations (e.g. Sum 41 on the small stage with a massive audience, Feeder acting like a pack of whiny b*tches because they had a small crowd and failing to play Buck Rogers).

The Soundwave crowd was far less pretentious and ridiculously dressed than attendees at the GC Big Day Out 2011 . At one point I was in the Deftones pit waiting for the band to come out and this large group of what I assumed were 18 year old guys and girls wearing a mix of fluro coloured clothing pushed their way into the pit. I heard one lil' fricking teeny bopper say "I can't wait to see Chino...he is like so hawt!"

They lasted two songs. The girls started crying that it was too rough in the pit and they needed a bathroom break. The guys promptly started pushing their way out of the D again, infuriating the rest of the genuine punters who were fired up to experience the Deftones.

No Sleep was probably the best festival i've been to. If Homebake had better lineups it'd be a cracker

I've heard Prince is rumored. I, personally, think that is awesome. He's the last artist you'd expect on the BDO bill but hed be the most talented there if it eventuates!
