Just say Drinkwater has a breakout season and kills it in first grade this year, are you going to think it was a good call not to give him a crack last season?

When he threw Quinlan in the final rounds I thought he was great and should be given a crack this season but he is overlooked by the looks of things. I really hope Quinlan is given a crack this season on the field. Duges is injury prone so hopefully when he has his standard time off it will be a chance for Quinlan to shine at fullback.
Are you addressing that question to me?
If that hypothetical came to fruition, my answer to your question would be yes.
In fact, more than that, I think it would point to the wisdom of NOT throwing him in too early. It would fall into the same category of Folkes holding Barba back despite the bleatings of many fans.

However it's just a hypothetical, and I doubt it will come to pass.

Poor hypothetical question. Unless you attended all of the training sessions and watched each and every game he played in, how would you know if he was ready or not or whether he would have made a difference? The people who worked with him day in day out made the call not to play him and they had full visibility on his progress.

although i dont agree with the hypothetical question, i do get where slippery is coming from..

In fairness to slippery these were the same people that persisted with Fien at half, played Stanley at Five eighth, continued to play Vidot on the left side of the field, moved two of the best wingers in the world to fullback whilst we had a specialist fullback in Quinlan killing it in the cutters... (he came into first grade many months too late..) it took them forever to give Runciman a go whilst Stanley fumbled around the park, persisted with guys like Harrison and Green whilst guys like MAtthews didnt get enough chances, and refused to give Cameron King enough game time....

so i do understand why many supporters dont have any faith in "those people" making correct decisions.....

I'd say that's the plan. Quinlan looked promising but plays like a fullback not a half.

I love this thread
It's supposed to be about our potential big mongrel
forward but now it's about our small half backs
Got to love our supporters

You have to have faith in them because no matter what happens now they will be making the decisions this season otherwise why would you watch?

Talking hypothetically is a bullshit way to try and justify a point when none of us have the visibility that the coaching staff do on how the players are performing and how the players are gelling together. Trying something just for hell of trying something if a player is not ready could do long lasting damage. And seriously, when rookies like Reynolds and DCE were brought into 1st grade by their respective teams, they were brought in with successful teams around them. They were not just thrust in and expected to be the saviour of their teams when the season was already a run away failure. Again putting the pressure like that on them could have destroyed them and achieved nothing.

I agree that quinlan was brought in too late, although he was rubbished on this very forum for being too small to be any good in 1st grade by many forumites.

Most threads seem to be forgotten and turned into the major issues we see that the club has.

Funny you bring up quinlan. He was labelled on this very forum as too small to be any good in 1st grade.

Quinlan is one of those players who punch above their weight, good player to have.
Will probably cover The Dugan when he plays Origin.

Also they were performing in the lower grades.

Epapahane Lauaki has signed with the dragons for 2014.
Should be made public in the next couple of days ;-)

I'm not losing sleep over it, but what's the latest with this signing ? Is there red tape like the Rangi Chase situation ? What are your contacts able to tell you ?
