Bikie Boss defends Eels links

From todays Telecrap.

They're tattooed outlaws who look terrifying - but come the weekend they're just footy fans. Bandidos bikie boss Samir Jouayde is a sponsor of the Parramatta Eels, with a corporate box and signage ready to go up around the ground for his new tattoo shop, Parramatta Ink.

He found himself on the back foot yesterday after police warned Eels CEO Paul Osborne their newest sponsor had bikie links.

"Yes, I'm president of the Bandidos Parramatta chapter but I am also a business owner and a huge Eels fan." Mr Jouayde who changed his name from Mustafa, said yesterday.

His $30,000 sponsorship package includes sponsoring duel international Timana Tahu, who returned to the Eels this season from the Waratahs.

Mr Jouayde, 29, bought the business in Church Street Parramatta for $60,000 nine months ago from Scott Orrock, former national president of the Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang.

Dear me.... tattoo parlour owner rides a bike and hangs out with others who also ride bikes.

Shocking news Telegraph. Time for a full undercover operation and exclusive report...

so can we expect Timana to be covered in ink as part of his sponsorship by seasons end?

can't say i have much time for bikie gangs, but he's still running a business like any other sponsor, so thats life

Yes I'm sure that he's a fine upstanding member of the Parramatta business community and the Paul Osborne would have completed a rigorous process of due diligence before accepting Mr Jouayde as a sponsor.

how many NRL clubs do you know do backround checks on their potential sponsors, and I'll ask the question again, what has this bloke done??

The media will ride it for sure, remember how excited they got when Cronulla was sponsored by that Porno bloke.

I didn't write the article Stags. I just typed it up for youse all.

Yes I'm sure it's just a simple case of guilt by association.

The war is over. MITS and yourself need to get over it.

You are so misjudging my angle. Yes that war was over many moons ago. You might want to google "Strikeforce Raptor". I'll leave it at that.

Life is about making good choices. That's what I tell my kids often.

I agree. I hope all parents tell their kids that.
I don't know the first thing about the bloke, his motives or his associations. He might be a great bloke, and just like all the other 'outlaw bikie groups', misunderstood. Copping bad press.
Mr Jouayde should have some interesting gatherings in his Corporate Box if all his friends turn up. Wonder who will tell them to leave if they start playing up. All I can say is the sponsorship situation must be really desperate.

Parra must be desperate for money to accept sponsorship from this guy. Lot of risk to them for $30k. Even in the (unlikely) event that he is a cleanskin, they run the risk of any Bandidos dramas smearing their brand, and anything he personally is associated with, even more so. Irrespective of his bikie links, a tattoo shop is hardly a family friendly image, if the club is interested in marketing itself that way.
