Billy Slaters Commentary

Thats because you are also a backward whiny voiced scum from the inbreeding capital of Australia like Slater is!

How does it feel to be consistantly beaten for half a decade by "backwards whiny voiced scum from the inbreeding capitol of Australia" then? sh*t that must hurt, year after year after year after year etc....

"I seen him done that play before".

His lack of basic English was embarrassing, and combined with that whiny little bitch voice made the beat down even worse.

LOL look at all these kids complaining about 'youse'
Did mummy spank you too hard when you used the word?
Did daddy punch you in the face too hard for that?

The lack of proper pronunciation is a major problem with the youth of today young man.
If rappers did more "rhyming" in actual English maybe it would be cool to, oh I don't know, maybe stop wearing your pants around your f**king knees and making lame arse gang signs that are more resemblant of cerebral palsy.

f**king geniuss.

What a ghey voice he has. I'd rather lsiten to a muffle voiced, over-excited Fittler.

This,

I'd rather be ear raped with a f**king 20ft sharpened clown pole than listen to the f**king cheat.

I like the earlier comment, it would be funny if he went to interview someone and they spat at him, pushed him on his arse and told him to f**k off.

I watched a replay of the 2008 GF the other day, it was, in a sick and twisted way, funny to see him diving in studs first at Michael Robertson - if he were to try that sh*t now he'd be sent off, no iffs, buts or maybes.

Slater is one of the best fullbacks I have ever seen. Not sure how that qualfies him to be a commentator though? We do have an obsession with putting players in front of mics regardless of there ability to speak coherently, Fittler prime example.

Fitler speaks perfectly fine. Not sure why everyone keeps saying he can't speak.

Maybe he's got an odd accent or voice but he's completely literate

oh did you happen to come across some new information that proves Slater knew and was part of the salary cap scandal?

no? i thought not.

oh, and I suppose the fact he was named as one of those who received the "out of cap" payments and or benefits counts for nothing?

Because god only knows, the explanation we (the league supporting public) have been given is just so much easier to believe than "Billy was involved and new".
If you believe the lines that none of them knew it was wrong, they are all good boys with integrity, it was all a horrible accident, praise the lord etc, its the managers faults (Smith was his own manager ffs) and their is nothing remotely suspicious about signing seperate contracts with differing amounts THEN their is still a high chance you believe that Santa busts into your house on the night of the 24th December every year (or maybe early in the morning of the 25th of December, who knows....) and that Peter Cottontail leaves you chocolate at easter.

The thing is Santa and the Easter Bunny are at least believable to a child, most children, if the concept of contracts and money were explained to them, would say "that's wrong" if you told them about the storms "accounting oversights", and those little buggers just say what is on their mind, minus the bullsh*t.

He seems like he is on the piss most of the time dude.

LOL he does sound drunk! He deadset reminds me of an Uncle of mine. He still sounds perfectly literate to me though. I'm not saying he doesn't have a peculiar voice/way of speaking.

As a pom I don't think it's half as bad as people make out. I've never had difficulty understanding him(i'm not saying that to be nice either).

It's not as if he needs speech therapy or English lessons though. He's just got a bit of a unique drawl and a wicked sense of humour.

I think you need people like that. It should really come down to whether he's easily understood, which I think he is. And if I can understand him as a non-Aussie I can't imagine natives have any real trouble with understanding him.

Freddy's just a character. It's a great contrast to the dross we usually get from commentators

I actually like Fittler. You can tell after one sentence he's a Westie, but he actually has something funny and insightful to say, and he actually gets excited about the matches - which is more than i can say of Daley, Johns, or Wally Lewis.

Slater *might* be able to do it, but someone needs to teach him basic grammar. I know a lot of country people say "I seen this, I done that" but it's incorrect and if he wants a career in the media, he needs to work on it.

He is definitely easier to understand than Andrew Johns though, if you ignore the bad grammar.

Like you say if Slater is to ever really want to go into media he'll have to do something about his English.

I doubt he's a complete idiot, just needs to lose some of that regional dialect.

Stuff like "you's" and "seen" in the incorrect context you mention is pretty easily changed. He just needs to be made aware that he shouldn't be saying that.

I hate Slater though, so hope he dissapears after retiring lol

I think Billy actually does ok. Speaks fluently most of the time. Not like the blokes next to him are much better.

Slater has a future in commentary if he fixes his accent and learns grammar. As for Fittler and Johns, I might be part of the minority but I like them.

why not add him? they seem to only have complete f**kwits on commentary besides Wally. Slater would be just another douchebag to join the ranks of Johns, Fittler, Ikin etc.

no? i thought not.

He's an adult. When he signed 2 different contracts, unless he's intellectually disabled, he'd know exactly what was going on.

johns is marginally better than slater, fittler is brilliant because of the absolute nutty things he comes up with. i dont really have a problem with slaters accent because im from innisfail but after a while hearing it on tv it can be a little annoying
