The big tacklers of yesteryear would be disgraced by this tackle being against the laws of the game.
they would be digraced that you cant king hit, head but, eyegouge, knee, kick in the head, bite on the nose, squeeze thier nuts, stand on their head etc etc etc.
That was then, this now. New game , new rules.
In this case, Birds incedent could be used as a training video for the rule on the tackle.
I thought 3-4 was high, i would expect 2-3.

Regardless of whether we think it is harsh or not, if Bird gets suspended for this he effectively becomes another Hoppa - a liability to the club. I'm sure this result will have a large bearing on his negotiations...

I bet we dont hear anything about a tackle in State of Origin last night.
Looked "beyond the horizontal" to me.
Is this another case of one rule for the NRL and another for State of Origin?
Thought I saw a punch or two as well.
Didnt someone get charged for fighting(not worded that way) in round one?
Nobody has been charged with this since. Funny that.

Charge should have been defended, it's unbelievable they took the early plea.

Was a legit tackle .. you get less for a late high shot.

Also I think there was two in that tackle and they seemed to bend Slater's neck a bit - looked a tad dangerous. There is no way Birds' was worse than that - also bizarre that it took the touchie 5 tackles to report it (Birds')
