Could someone translate the bit in the paper that says "the sustained success of the Broncos".
Can't be referring to the actual Footy side.
Oh hang on it says compared to Newcastle.
Wow that's a clincher right there.

Gal should move on. Creates room for Bird. Who would u rather for 2018?
Gallen. hes our best player this year, why woudlnt he be in 2018? Bird has to find a way to stay, within the confines of the clubs finances. If hes too expensive, then he goes. Our problem is we paid too much for a winger & didnt do enough to keep our fullback. We let him go last year, increase our fullbacks wage a little while he sits out a lousy 8 weeks, then all of a sudden we keep Bird.

If I was feeling "loyal" / "emotional" about it, I'd say keep Gallen until he wants to go.

If we look at it logically, in terms of success for the club, I'd instead say keep Gallen until he wants to go.

I hope we keep Bird, he is great, but not for too much. Flanno will work out what is right.

Let him go he will only ever be a centre for us or a edge backrower. Bakuya will be playing lock for us when Gal calls it a day. Can't see a Milford Bird halfs combination being successful if he goes to Brisbane. Can't really seeing a Hodgkinson Birs halfs partnership being successful either especially with the knights forward pack.
He is a good player without a doubt but he ain't worth what the Broncos want to pay for him you can buy 2 good centres for that price.

Maybe Bird will end up like last couple of high price imports for Broncs.

Barba - we got back didnt work for Bennett
Milford - has not lit the world up as well

I cant see Broncs keeping Milford if they get Bird, that pair does not seem like a halves combo

We get it, you hate Holmes.
No need to try and push it every post.

Its not hate, Its an Error. Pretty sure im allowed to talk about an error the club has made. in this case its a cascading error, that has seen us lose our best ever fullback, prob now our best ever edge runner. We are only short about $300 grand.

We lost Barba because he fugged up.
If we lose Bird to a 1mil + deal then goodluck to him. We should not be paying that much.

Barba would still be here if we didnt halve his salary. That the clubs mistake. Sometimes players get injured, sometimes they have car accidents, sometimes their head goes missing sometimes they write letters on their arm, sometimes they piss in the park. Deal with it.
We dont need to pay Bird 1 mil to keep him. Nowhere near it.

If we paid a mill for bennys half season we would have kept bird? Come on man.

What? Ben was on $650. We halved it. Holmes is on close to 650k increasing each year. give half of the wingers money to benny, the rest to Birdy on top of what hes already getting. Edrick comes in or Drew or Beale. benny at the back, Birdy in the centres, we roll on.

Benny went for a mill a year. He already had agreed to a one year deal at the sharks before reneging on that to take the mill.

Chances are he would have back doored a $350k pay cut anyway.

He went because he wanted to go. He negotiated with the club and he agreed to a contract. The NRL stuffed around and he pissed off.

For those suggesting Bird replaces Gal at 13 and we wave goodbye to Gal - why not have both?

Bump Gal up to prop (on reduced terms - he'd surely not expect full coin still), Bird to 13, and sinply use our interchanges more than we currently do.... That would leave us with Fifita, Prior, Gal as top line props, with the likes of Lats as bit parts - could probably afford a luxury impact type forward in the 17 too.

It doesn't matter what number is on his back, at centre bird can get as much or as little ball as he wants.

As for Barba he's not here because he took some drugs, a chain of events he set in motion ensued.

Agree...Bird at centre can get as involved and as much ball as he wants but not as much money as he wants. Dugan has the same manager and is in a standoff at the goons over the same issue.

Firstly. Barba was going to sit out 12 weeks as the Nrl refused to include the WCC and nines. You really think we should have increased Benny's wage as a reward for his farcup? - Wow...wish you were my boss. Other side of the equation is we definitely don't get Seggy and possibly don't keep Lewie without Barba's money. As much as I admire what Benny did for us last year - he made his own bed and would have been returning mid-season on his last chance...massive risk given his track record. Finally on Birdy....i'd love him to stay but if the Broncs offer is legit we're even further off the mark money wise.
