Devils Advocate here. I still reckon he done the wrong thing by the club big time, in not telling the coach etc what happend.

Forget legal advice and all that sh!t.

I am talking from the point of doing the right thing ... you can't keep watertight and expect someone to go into bat for you or defend your actions if you won't tell what happend.

Also re the police charging him I believe they had no option (whether right or wrong) when domestic violence is alleged to of or believed to of taken place.

Anyhow, bottom line, if Bird had gone about this with a different tact then I reckon we'd all be moaning about something else right now.

It's Cronulla remember, we should always expect crap decisions and results ......... until at least our balls drop and we go on the front foot.

Cheers

Agree...this whole thing is so farked... and so sharks. If bird ends up at another club they'll win the comp. If bird ends up at the sharks we'll be watching his exploits on cctv...that's just the way it is and the way it'll always be.

FMD!

Well congrats to Greg and his legal team for an astonishing and somewhat surprising result.

Its not that easy to overturn a conviction.

I am now waiting for the judgment to be published so I can consider and comment upon it.

Its a pity that poor and working people cant afford this excellent representation.

He got the result, you cant get better than that.

Greg Bird is innocent.

Exactly right Quigs, glad someone in here is making sense. Take note Reefy. Given the circumstances the police had no choice at the time being a DV case. They did jump the gun with the GBH charge and were proved wrong and had to downgrade it but Bird had to be charged regardless. If the evidence that was put forward in the last two days by him and Milligan was told to police at the time he wouldnt have been charged. If it were then told at the first hearing he wouldnt have been found guilty. The police and prosecution can only go with what they have. Bird's lies and blaming his mate got him into this mess.

And nothing was lost by the police Reefy, I dont know why you keep banging on with that crap. Didnt you maintain as well that Bird will never be a Titan when someone predicted that a few months ago. Now you say he is signed sealed and delivered.

Anyhow's the sags finally ends. I have mixed feelings. In the end justice is probably done because I ve never believed that he glassed her either intentonally or recklessly. This is the result that I thought would happen at the first hearing. I am however pissed in a way that he isnt guilty because whilst Bird's reputation has suffered and he has probably lost $200k, you know who the real loses are now this is all over. Us, thats right us, the sharks fans.

I am glad that Bird has gone from the sharks and I wouldn't want him back – I’m waiting for the ‘sorry we lied, stuffed around the hospital, police, sold a mate down the river and wasted a heap of tax payers money’ - they are a couple of liars who deserve each other - how you could want him as a mate or idolise him as a player is beyond me...... the club goes on.

Jeez the sharks forum is full of a lot of foolish and gulable people, The fact this scumbag got of is only an example of the corupt legal system and the power money and fame can produce compared to the man on street. Most here are blinded by their love of a football team and are unable to see reality. Hmmmm defends himself and pushs away a glass that breaks in her hand and still has enuf weight and force to frature her eye socket !!! f**k me wake up guys... Also he still has another case pending which also encludes many more unbelieable explanations . The guy is a fruitloop and the sharks did the right thing by pissing him off. I wouldnt want him in my team for a second, and i doubt club sponsors would either.

ok where are all the merkins that said he glassed her on purpose?
Given all the versions and wierd behaviour I was always of the opinion bird did something at least reckless.

In a 'reasonable doubt' criminal case though with the current versions given by bird and milligan it's not surprising the judge found what he did.
