Bird will learn, next time he'll just punch the guy in the head, you only get one week for that.

I'm not condoning what Bird did and never will, but i believe a player should be suspended for the length of time his opponent is out of the game.

ie: If you commit a deliberate offence and the player is out for a year.. then u get a year !

I'm not talking about an accidental high shot here, but a blatent deliberate attempt to injure an opposition player.

I've thought much the same for quite a while, but what about eg Kearney and McCracken - McCracken left the game and Kearney was about 22 - should he be forced to leave as well?

Perhaps it could work like this:
You get a suspension for the foul which is added onto the time it takes for the guy to return. If he doesn't return that could be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

Nothing, but Birdy does look rather cheeky in it. :)

i agree with mcsharkie, greg will come back from suspension and will play better than before. he will continue to become a better player as he goes along..

Kearney was about 22

Kearney was about 25 when he nearly killed McCracken.

At least Marteene got up and played on.

But you watch, Bird will get more then Kearney did.
