Poor Birdy, :( his a gutsy little bloke hope it's not too bad and his up and at them again soon. Wish you well Greg. That was some hit he copped, gutsy effort to get up a play the ball.

On the footy show they said it was feared real bad but "only" a broken rib and a bruised lung. So at least he aint in danger.

Loose use of the word star, but I feel sorry for the guy none the less.
Nobody deserves to get set up like that with a possible carreer ending pass.

Sharks star out of hospital

THE Sharks are hopeful Greg Bird will play again this season after their back rower was released from hospital this morning.

Bird had spent the previous two nights in hospital after struggling for breath following the Sharks' 22-18 loss to Newcastle on Friday.

There were initial fears he may have suffered a punctured lung or spleen damage following a crunching tackle from Knights duo Steve Simpson and Andrew Johns late in the game.

But the injuries have since been listed as fractured ribs and bruised lungs.
