For a second I thought you meant the Auckland Rugby League. Which the NZRL effectively is already under the control of and they ignore the rest of the Country.

Look the ARLC seems to spend too much money on adminstration and not enough on grassroots. League is struggling in NZ and needs grassroots investment. Local development officers, junior development programs etc. It has none of that. The AFL has more development officers in Wellington as RL for example i.e. 1.

Given the value to the nrl of nz you’d hope they would put some of the tv money back into the countries development. I get the sense they don’t trust the nzrl to do a good job with any money they give them. Ideally you’d see the nzrl become NRLNZ and get a place on the commission and make the ARL commision multi national

The only concerns that I would have if NZRL came under the umbrella of the ARLC alongside the state leagues would be:

• We would become even more of a joke in the media as an international game
• I don't know how this would go down with the NZ public
• How would spending priority go at the ARLC (i.e. I can't see them matching spending for NZ with Australia even on a pro-rata basis) where does NZ fit in the heirarchy? Woudl it be NRL clubs, NSWRL / QLDRL then NZRL?

A place on the commision and nz ceo who reports to the commision in same way nrl ceo does would sort that, nz would have same status as qrl and nswrl in the pecking order. Change commision name to A&NZ RL commision

Not a bad idea. Going a little further, should the ARLC simply take over as the Asia-Pacific Rugby League Confederation and be responsible for the entire game in the Asia Pacific region? The ARLC already have a Pacific Strategy, schedule and fund the Pacific Tests and pay a grant to the NZRL so that the Kiwis get equal pay to the Kangaroos.

It's fairly dubious that the ARLC and relevant leagues are spending the money well as we speak! Development has been very poor in recent times. Numerous poor marketing decisions in the NRL and local leagues are hurting this code this where it really hurts; participation numbers and attendances.
