Has anybody ever seen a worse defender? When the tigers released him I was fine as he had been ordinary for 2 years. However his 'performances' for the sharks this year...beyond pathetic. How can this guy look his team mates in the eye? I would seriously prefer Daniel Fitzhenry in my team then Ayshford. I haven't seen a worse player running around consistently since we had 20 teams in the mid to late 90s. Opposition centers must love seeing themselves lining up against him...hell he single handedly got Josh Dugan an Origin spot.

The NRLCEO site had a graphic illustrating just how bad he's been. I'm on my phone but I'm sure someone else could link to it.

yep, similar to a lot of young players who might do one or two good things in ONE
game very early in their career & then they're branded as an exciting talent for years

no surprise they don't live up to those expectations, that were wrongly cast upon them in the first place

It's typical of the "NOW" generation who label players in rugby league, other sports & in many aspects of life as being a star or someone who will be "great" ( one of the most overused words ) when they've had one or two good moments / performances / contributions.

I rarely watch them ( unless it's a friend or relation of a friend ), but the flood of shows like The Voice, X Factor, etc thrust stardom on people prematurely & unfortunately this seems to have spilled over into how people are rated in sport, entertainment & many other categories.

Replace one of the turnstiles at the stadium with him and no-one would bat an eyelid.

He's been appallingly bad. Lawrence has been shocking this season but Ayshford has made his old centre partner look like ET. I wonder if we could interest cronulla in a past it, waste of space 6 who plays golf better than he plays footy

Worst player in the NRL, followed by Daniel Holdsworth.

Actually Cronulla's 2014 recruitment would have to be the worst in history. Any club that actually thought that Eric Grothe Jnr still had something to offer is totally nuts.

Gotta feel for the Sharks, you'd think most centres would be an upgrade over Pomeroy, yet they managed to nab one who isn't.

Honestly the worst player i have ever seen in my time supporting the club. I have never seen a player make more arm grabs in defense than Ayshford has this year. He also runs out of the line for no reason and i don't know if he is being coached to do that but it does my head in.

Ayshford: Plodimus Maximus

Seriously ever since Blake Ferguson left the joint their recruitments in the backs (besides Carney and maybe Robson) has been deadset average.
Add in some fairly talented wingers/centres/fullback along with a full strength forward pack (Gallen, Fifita, Lewis, Graham), their halves firing and last years form and the Sharkies would be no doubt top 4 material.

At one stage, Souths were looking at signing Ayshford. Thank god we missed out. If we'd have signed both Ayshford and Tuqiri, I think I'd have necked myself.

As a Tigers fan I welcomed the day I heard he was going.
No amount of defensive structures / setups will help when a bloke simply wont put his body on the line and stand in front of someone and attempt a tackle.

You blokes are disgraceful judges of talent. Aysh is the best back the mighty Sharkies have had since the Mighty Luke Covell. He's fast, slippery, a rock in defence. If he could kick goals he'd be the second coming of the great man. He should just about be the man to come in to the NSW side for game three, but like the Cov will be overlooked for political reasons.
