Would like to hear other forum members views on elevating Blake Lawie to captain or at least co captain for this season. I'm aware the chances of this happening are slim but I believe would unite the team and play with more passion?

He did definitely lift when he captained in the St Helens match. I reckon he is our best candidate to succeed Hunt. Just needs a little bit more consistency in his performances to step up but from all accounts from younger players he already looks to be a leader/captain in the making.

In the real world ( a top 6 side) he would be the 4th prop. We need a player to inspire the team & show by example. That player needs to be at least a SOO/ Australian rep. Lawrie has improved sure but he does have a ceiling.

ATM. There is no one else.
I can see Bud Sullivan in time if he can stay injury free, stay at our joint and mature a bit to be an ideal choice
Outside that we would have to wait for a marquee signing and hand it to them....

So now we’re suggesting a total plodder as a candidate to captain the team? Average will inspire…..average.

Anyone in the club holding up a trophy they won in 2010 is okay by me..
It’s from the 2010 “Year In Review” released by the club. Well put together, inspirational and professional publication.

How the club has changed. Now days we forget to update the Charity Shield and aim for 8th.

I’ll disagree with Since77

i think he is a good team guy. I think he is clearly a 1st grader. both on and off the field I have had good impressions.

however, i am not convinced he is captain material. Not sure he would make the right calls on the field in the heat of the moment. vice captain on the other hand I can happily accept.

given hunt is captain now, I’d stick with that until one of the younger crowd stand out.

Nah, Paul Turner's your man ! Paul Turner for President !

Lawrie displays zero leadership qualities on the field, he takes his hit ups, rarely has the inclination to maybe look around to see if the pass is on and he tackles. He runs the occasional decoy but is rarely involved in any of our set plays. I don't see him out there talking much, rallying the troops, pushing his buddies. Basically he's a grunt and to date a barely above average grunt who after 6 years in 1sts hasn't come within coo-ee of any rep teams. At 26 he should be coming into his prime years as a prop so let him concentrate on that, don't go confusing now when we need him most.
Apart from Hunt we don't really have any candidates do we, no-one acceptable. Bud will be a great Captain one day but that will take time.
