Without the bears link up I wouldn’t be adding a team in Perth for ten years

A stand alone Perth team would be a slow burn to being an nrl team which contributes to the tv deal and competition as a whole

Linking with the bears is a whole different scenario for the reasons which have been discussed adnauseum

When talking about the future tv deal perthred himself said the team would have little value to the tv deal and was quite pessimistic about the value of nrl expansion teams

Why would the PNG production line pathways come to the Bears, they need to filter into their own side because ain’t nobody else going to go over there, big dollars and tax incentives included, unless they are a young player looking for an opportunity or they are a player near the end of their careers.

Nah I’m one of the few against PNG, but congrats to them on getting approved.
Went to a footy catch up on the weekend and a few of the QLD Cup boys were there, they said even though it’s certainly an experience playing over there there is no amount of money that could sway you to pack up a live over there.
There were five of the boys there, one plays for Sunshine Coast Falcons, one for Burleigh Bears, two for Tweed Seagulls and one for the Western Clydesdales.
They ALL played against the PNG Hunters in Port Moresby this year, all agreed, no f#cking way, it stinks over there etc.
Geez they had some funny stories from over there.

Yeah but it is a chicken and the egg situation. RL wants and needs new markets, So it needs to start somewhere.

It is 2 years into the program. Will be 4 years when they kick off, not ideal but better than nothing.

All the new teams will be garbage for the 1st 5 years atleast anyway
