Its simple, if we have the depth in KOE to cover someone not playing well in NRL, then they should be replaced, no questions asked. Plus we either say that our young props can play NRL with more minutes or they need to mature in KOE, cant have it both ways .

A dead give away is Lawrie s body shape. That is not the modern game's shape for a middle. Middles need to look like Leota, Fisher Harris, TerellMay, Whyte, AFB, Debellin, Haas, Collins. Lawrie looks like a cream bun. The modern game won't carry this type of middle, unless that player has something special to offer. Unfortunately, Blake is like vanilla ice-cream....nice but nothing special. Hope he proves me wrong
If Lawrie looks like a cream bun, then Leilua looks like a malteser.

One big difference. Leilua in just a few games has shown himself to be very damaging running the ball, lots of post contact metres and looking dangerous with every carry.
Lawrie gets squashed like an insignificant bug (that's if he hasn't already dropped the ball) the second he hits the defensive line.
In this case Malteser beats the cream bun. In fact that the cream in that bun is really, really off.....

Lawrie was the best of a bad bunch. The players we had around him made him look good. Now that there is some better quality coming through the juniors he is struggling. Frank Molo is a far better player his only issue is suspension. FMolo has made Origin that shows how much better he is than Lawrie. JDB will also be a better option than Lawrie at prop. Young Fifita coming through is a better option than Lawrie as he has more size and probably can pop an offload. I would even put BMM ahead of Lawrie at this stage.

A better title for this thread would be " Blake Lawrie.... Zzzzzzzz"

Lawrie has done alright for a number of years but he can’t mix it anymore with the bigger, fitter forwards he comes up against and he just is regressing as a player to the point now he is redundant. It’s not fair to say he has always been bad however as he did used to hold his own for a while there. His time has come to depart though, if we are serious about getting the go forward we need in the middle.

We do have more dangerous forwards but usually their problem is consistency (RFM, BMM, MMolo, Su’a with injury) or continual poor lapses of judgement and discipline (FMolo). Then you have JDB who is consistently strong in defence but is now moving into the veteran era and will be on his way out soon enough. Still see him as important piece of our puzzle but we need a couple much bigger mobile bodies to go with.

Im happy with retaining FMolo as he can be great but mainly because we can’t afford to be down any more props when it’s so hard to recruit anyone over. So have to be realistic on that but expect many more stints on the sideline with him.

Then there’s the hooker issue…

I think 2 big bopper fit and strong forwards first. Get them signed up and if great, we can then see if we need a better hooker or whatever until we have the right balance of players across the squad. Bit by bit is how Flanno should work it until we reach the ultimate goal of being a strong squad of players in all positions.

Balance is quite off at the moment. We only have 1 hooker in our top 30. We only have 3 halves.
