I stopped listening to Green Day when they brought out the "time of your life" song...which was flogged on every radio station.

Dookie and Kerplunk were great albums....but now I think they are pants.

I liked Blink 182 for a few years, and I am with Wheelsy when I say Cheshire Cat is one of my favourite albums. I saw them live in Brisbane at Crash and Burn in '97 (I think). Still one of the best gigs I have been to.

Haven't really liked them since about '98.

Well, disregarding everything either band's released since the new millenium was upon us (balls, the lot of it), I gotta vote Green Day, although as an angsty teen I have to admit I played Blink to death, and now as I write this I've got m&m's stuck in my head. Green Day I didn't really get into until after high school, but Dookie imho beats any of Blink's stuff.

When Dookie was released in 1994....it was a pretty f**king good album.

Now that Billie-Joe has gone all emo....meh

But if you listen to say Blink 182's 'Enema of the State' and then listen to their self titled album you would notice a huge difference between them both musically and lyrically.

Oh absolutely, it's a different more mature kind of d!ck joke.

I vote Green Day, purely because Dookie is a pretty good album. Neither band are actually that good though.

Lyrics are mostly totally unimportant to me.. They could be singing about the greatness of John Howard for all i care to be honest...

I'm a music snob of the highest order, but I have the biggest soft spot for blink, probably that teenage girl deep in my heart. Blink by miles and miles. Greenday lost anything good they had going with their last album.

Having read back over this thread, anyone trying to justify either band musically is a moron. They're sh*t bands, perhaps with the exception of dookie. Any value is sentimental.

I'm interested to know what you believe makes a "good" band, keeney...

With that sort of talk I assume you are a massive tool fan.

Blink for mine BUT ONLY for when they finally dropped the deadwood & got around to +44. Green Day just do nothing for me. But then again recyling never did...

And the first person to mention Angels & Airwaves (including I-Empire) gets a crossbow in the left ear. Yes the whole crossbow, the arrow will already be lodged in their medulla oblongata...

Blink was 1000 times the band +44 is. If Blink made another album i couldnt imagine how good it would be but Tom decided he was the best song writer and musician ever which is a complete joke as all AVA songs sound like they should be sung in a church or something.
+44 imo are missing something

Don't you know it. I take it you looked at my last.fm account? But just cos I like tool doesn't mean I don't listen to almost everything. And just cos I'm a tool fan doesn't mean I'm a conceited asshole. Although I suppose I am.

Blink's songs are interchangeable, juvenile and not particularly expressive, they're rather average musicians (bar Travis he rocks). Look I love them as much as I love most bands, but saying they're a good band is pretty silly.

If you were a true music snob then neither of these bands would have ever been a blip on your radar ...

Lol, it does seem that music snobery does go hand in hand with being a Tool fan. For the record I'd place Tool in my top 5 bands of all time and yes I am a music snob.

Oh and Blink 182 v Greenday is a bit of a cripple fight but Greenday are only mildly crippled as opposed to the vegatative Blink 182.

I enjoy both bands and really don't care what other people have to say about them because usually it's based on the image or it's not their style of music. Sure their no Tool or Muse but IMO their both enjoyable to listen to.

In terms of who is better? I'd take Greenday. Maybe it's the 90's nostalgia, I'm not sure but I still get a kick out of Hitchin A Ride. Blink on the other hand have a handful of decent songs but as someone has already mentioned they started going down hill when they started hitting the usual Pop Punk topic of "breaking up".

As for +44; I enjoyed the first single however ever since their songs have been horrible. No It Isn't has to be one of the worst song I've ever heard "Lets Cut Our Wrists and Burn Down Something Beautiful" horrible.
