keep ya hands off ribery though!
Depends.do any of you City fans really think any player is worth what has been reported?
As for the galactico signings, then whatever it takes really. It's worth it just to see the jealous Rags accuse us of ruining football.
tommax said:I'm not a city fan, but in reply to the above post....does it really matter? If kakas only worth 50-70 million but city decide to pay overs of 100 million does it really matter? Money is literally no object to them. Its not as if, for example, blackburn have bought a player for 14 million who is onlyworth 8-10 million at most and the impact could be bad if the player doesnt work out ie: wasted money on a tight budget. If kaka doesnt work out at worst they will simply sell him on. not for a profit probably, but they dont need to make any profit.
Depends.
I'd much rather us pay overs to international clubs than other Premier League clubs. If we pay, say £20 million for Santa Cruz, not only do Blackburn get a nice cash injection from us, other clubs are going to take the piss in all future transactions. "Well you paid £20 million for him, so this guy's worth... let's say £80 million..."
Clubs are always hesitant to sell in January compared to the summer, and they know we're in the market for players. So inevitably we're going to have to pay a bit more. As long as that bit more is in the region of 40% of what the player is "worth", I don't mind.

I wouldn't say on edge but slightly concerned
However thus far in the last 48 hours
1. 2 Citeh dudes flew to Milan to talk to Kaka
2. Galiani said he is not for sale even for 100 mill
3. Kaka said he is not leaving for any money atm.
Knowing money is no object to these people whether its 100 mill or 150 mill, Kaka and or Galliani may crack.
I hear this afternoon the offer was 100mill and 30mill per year. Galliani has already knocked back 100mill offer but 30mill a year may make Kaka think twice.
I just wonder what damage these people may do to football with all this money playing their own real life fantasy league as money obviously has very little meaning to them.
Massive offer from a massive club...Jealous of Citeh? Yeah whatever :lol:100 million for any football player, to allow someone to act out a fantasy is obscene, TBH.
I'm happy to support a club who live within their means, are viable, and arent reliant on a third party.
My club might not be able to compete in monetary terms with yours or the sides they come up against in Europe, but I'm content knowing my clubs future is more assured than any club who are living on a false economy.
Whoa hold on a second sportsfans... you didn't just suggest that United have a secure financial future did you?
Your club barely makes the payments on the interest from your loans every year. Debts of £700 million and counting...
What happens if the money stops like it may be at Chelsea and it goes pearshaped? The owners have enough, sell, and you have guys on ridiculous contracts?
They become the new Leeds..
That happening to Chelsea would nearly be as funny as when it happened to Leeds..

Man City make Kaka bid
Manchester City have opened talks with Italian side AC Milan over a possible world record transfer bid of £100 million for Brazilian playmaker Kaka.
A City delegation led by chief executive Garry Cook flew to Italy on Tuesday to begin negotiations and are reported to be willing to pay Kaka a weekly wage of £250,000 or £13.65 million per season.
Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi could only claim he was "hopeful" that Kaka would remain at the San Siro and sources claimed that City want the 26-year-old "at all costs".
While there was no official word from Eastlands, Berlusconi's assessment suggests the transfer may go through.
Mediaset, a company owned by Berlusconi, reported: "This time they (Manchester City) are here for real with an official delegation''
"Manchester City want Kaka at all costs and they have shown their cards. Garry Cook, two representatives of Sheik Mansour and Kia Joorabchian, who is acting as a mediator, met with Adriano Galliani and Ernesto Bronzetti (Milan's chief executive and commercial director) and made their offer," said the report.
It has been suggested that the visit of Newcastle United on January 28 has been pencilled in as a potential debut day for the former world footballer of the year, deposed by Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday.
Whilst City remain in a relegation dogfight, the prospect of seeing Kaka in action will excite every Blues fan.
Yet Hughes insists he is not a fan of the transfer window, which could yet lead one of the world's biggest names to his club.
"I don't particularly like the transfer window because you have to wait to address things that could be sorted out a lot more quickly under the old system," Hughes told the Manchester Evening News.
"I am sure there were reasons behind bringing in a transfer window in the first place but I cannot fathom what they were.
"There have been weaknesses in our squad for quite some time and I have not had the opportunity to address them.
"Now we get to January and prices are inflated and the expectations are heightened. I don't think it is a healthy situation."
Cook has now returned to Manchester and will await permission to talk with Kaka. However, one deal that seems to be inching closer is for West Ham's firebrand striker Craig Bellamy.
Hughes has worked with Bellamy twice before and sees the Welshman as a valuable addition to his squad. It seems West Ham are finally on the brink of allowing the player to leave provided City reach their £10 million valuation.
