He won the series for NSW, c'mon man give him some credit. He's always been solid just not spectacular.

He's badly out of form. He got the job done last year and I can understand daley sticking loyal to him, but if you're going to stick loyal to anyone surely Lewis has done enough

It's not all bad leaving Lewis out to blood in some new talent, but that's the thing, it should be talent not a hype job like Cordner. In future years we have to look at the long term replacements in the backrow. Lewis and Watmough are done. Bird, Gallen, Hoffman and Scott are on borrowed time. A backrow something like this looks quite good:

11. James Ryan
12. Josh Jackson
13. Trent Merrin

14. Tyson Frizzel
15. Tariq Sims

Then we need to keep on some of the youngsters coming through and how they're progressing in first grade, some names include:

Tevita Pangai Jr
Bryce Cartwright
Tepai Moeroa
Jack Bird

Form doesn't count for much in the origin arena, Hodkinson is a proven performer and has the composure to play at that level. It's been a long time since we can say that about a NSW halfback. He's out of form yeah but so is a lot of the Bulldogs team, but he isn't a one trick pony, lets not forget he did guide his team to the finals last year. I agree Lewis should have been there form or not, but I think they've left him out purely because they're looking to the future.

I'd be looking at side more like this:

1. The Dugan
2. Alex Johnson
3. Dylan Walker
4. Mick Jennings
5. Daniel Tupou
6. Mitchel Pearce
7. Trent Hodko
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Fifita
11. Scott
12. Hoffman
13. Merrin

14. T Sims
15. Tamou
16. Klemmer
17. Blake Austin

Not bad, except for Pearce. Austin in at 6 and Lewis or Friz onto the bench.

No Hayne
No Gallen
No Bird

I can’t help but think Mitchell Pearce is to blame for all of that. If he somehow escapes blame it will surely transfer to that bench player Boyd Cordner.

We all know NSW has way better players than those myths at QLD so only the above 2 players are stopping us from winning IMO.

Either you support QLD or this one of those pranks?
.....
End of the day, Hodkinson deserves his spot
......
I don't like but I think Pearce might do well with Hodkinson. Can't wait for the selection tomorrow boyz.

IN YOUR UNDIES QLD!

Well it was a serious attempt, but I agree I am struggling in terms of the NSW halves.
Pearce as failed many times in the past, but seems to be an improved player.

Hodkinson is way out of form and has been struggling for most of the season.
In the past QLD have picked players in that situation and they have stepped up and played well at origin, but I don't think this will happen.
Hodkinson will do his job in defense but will not offer much in attack.
NSW can still win but if QLD gets a 10-12 point lead at any stage it is probably game over.
Soward has just come back from injury that is why I am leaving him out at this stage, and also because I expect game 1 to be a brutal forwards battle.
I expect they will play footy in games 2 & 3, and a fast open game will suit Soward.

I love the idea that after so many years of picking Mitchell Pearce and losing, the blues finally picked a different halves combo, won a series and are now going back to Pearce despite both of last years halves being available for selection. Gallen, Hayne and Bird bring out is going to make it extremely hard to get the job done, so when it doesn't, will Pearce get the blame?

Hayne's the major loss, we have plenty of cover for both Bird & King Gal.

Dugan's in terrific form and hopefully he can be a decent link-man in attack. His passing seems to have improve but still needs a lot of work.

Reynolds is available?

Yes, of course Pearce will get the blame.

The best chance of a NSW win is to dominate in the forwards.

Looking further ahead they need a better halves combo, there are some young prospects coming through. I just don't think they are ready this year.

Mitchell Pearce has never worn the 6 jumper in an NRL game. The blame for the inevitable NSW defeat lies with whoever selected him out of position. In fairness to Pearce, he should be in his correct position if he's going to be used at all.

And there you go, the worst half in Origin history, M. Pus has somehow gotten picked again.

Predictable side, and definitely not the best one we could have picked.

Will have to defend extremely well and hope our forwards dominate to be any chance.
