Sad to hear Lewis is not considered this year? They picked:
Merrin, Fifita, Cordner, and Klemmer on the bench. That is a strong bench though. However, it look like Jackson is starting and that leaves; Scott, Hoffman or Watmough? Wow if they are bold enough to keep Lewis out then Watmough must be the other player to miss out. What you guys think of Hoffman taking too many knocks lately? I think he should sit out too? Frizel seem to be in form and hard to contain. Maybe he is worth considering?

So Lewis is out, but guys horribly out of form or terrible at Origin in Hopoate, Cordner, Hodkinson, Pearce etc. are in the team.

We deserve to lose the first game. Lewis is a proven performer in Origin and beats the shit out of atleast a quarter of the players likely to be picked.
Cordner has been excellent this year :?

Who's a better utility option though?

He's a better player than Hopoate, Hodkinson, Cordner etc. and can cover the positions they play atleast as well as they will.

Jackson can cover all the positions Lewis can and he is playing better than Lewis

Lewis has been playing very well this year. Unlucky to miss out. The selectors sure have a hard-on for Canterbury and Easts players. And how Pearce gets selected despite being in shit form this year is beyond me. Even his team mate Maloney is a better option.

Had Bird and Gallen been available I too would have moved Lewis and Watmough on but for the sake of experience, one of them should have been there, preferably Lewis since he can cover the halves and especially if it's in place of that dud Cordner. This guy is Ben Creagh 2.0.

Hoppa shouldn't be there, barely first grade.

Then there's this guy...

We all know JT isn't the best defender but in the past there have been two players in particular that have left him clutching at air.

- Jarryd Hayne
- Luke Lewis

From a QLD perspective very glad these two are gone.

Having Cornder in over Lewis is one of the derpiest moves in NSW selection history. Right up there with picking Mitchell f**king Pearce at 6 after all his failures!!!

Even if Lewis wasnt in, surely Frizzell or Sims are far more impact off the bench than Plodner? The guy is strictly a left side edge runner (off a short ball). Literally plays zero other positions or roles, and unless Hoffman cops 2 broken legs and a fractured skull before the game, Plodner shouldn't be considered!

Pretty close, might be wiser to put "probable" or "likely" - especially if you want to be credible. News first or news fact ?

So we have a loyalty policy that extends to out of form (or players that have never performed in origin) guys like Hopoate, hodkinson, pearce, cordner and Tamou but doesn't extend to someone that has always performed at origin- Luke Lewis.
With the new concussion rules a utility player becomes vital, lewis has played everyone position In the nrl, and at the end of the day he is still a great backrower.
Queenslanders were already laughing at us for picking Pearce, they are now rolling around on the ground that we have left out one of our best and most consistent players over the last few years for Boyd Cordner

He won the series for NSW, c'mon man give him some credit. He's always been solid just not spectacular.
