watched it when they premeiered the first season just recently. can't wait to be able to watch episodes back to back to back. waitin a week til the new episode got a bit annoying.
Breaking Bad > Boardwalk Empire. Breaking Bad is really one of those shows that you need to watch a bunch of at a time though. I hate waiting week to week for it!
Pretty keen for this new season. If I can avoid the temptation to watch it I'll wait until its finished and get the whole lot so I don't have to wait each week for a new ep.
I think this show would work better in the wire mould of no central character. in the wire you had more in depth storylines centralised on the theme of the series. Mcnulty wasnt really a lead guy. neither was bunk, neither was omar or avon etc. there was no "soprano" in that show and it didnt need it.
In this show...the thompson character, even though Buschemi is very good..isnt really a leading man character. its not a strong enough character IMO to revolve around..the likes of a vick makey or a tony soprano or a walter white or even a don draper etc are the focal point of their respective shows for a reason. the thompson character is kinda like "yeah, he's a fixer...and he's corrupt..but ah. yeah whats jimmy doing in chicago"
meanwhile you have equally (if not stronger) interesting storylines on the periphery. The Jimmy character is well executed and should be in the forefront more. i hope season 2 will have this. likewise id like to see more of the chicago storyline and the Rothstein angle.
meanwhile you have the lunatic fed that whips himself in the back. this character is brilliant. IMO..i love every seen that he's in.
more of huis weird twisted tortured ways for mine. interesting plot twist for him at the end of the series there.
im hopeful for season 2. it has room for improvement but overall its entertaining.
