Boring Kicks For Boring Tries

i got frustrated watching the sharks and knights on sat night - lost count of the number of times kimmorley kicked across field for his wingers - i don't mind seeing it a couple of times per game but saturday night was a joke.

time to reward the defending team more for balls going dead/caught on the full etc - maybe a 40m tap.

You know what would be boring? Seeing the ball turned over at the end of every set, except for the odd try now and then.

The bomb is the most exciting part of the game, leave it as it is.

I think any tries scored from kicks have to have conversions taken from no closer than the 30 Metre line.

So the boring crossfield bombs will result in kickers kicking the ball from sideline from 30 metres out instead of current 20 which most kickers do.


Not only will it reward tries through the hands which can have the conversions taken from closer than 30 metres but it will make it more exciting if kickers can nail a sideline conversion from 30 metres out if a try is scored from a bomb as an example.

reason i suggest the above is that a team that can score nice tries using your whole backline through the hands should have the conversion attempts alot easier than a simple roosters type bomb

If you really want to eliminate tries from kicks you just increase the risk.

If a defender catches a kick inside the in goal area, 40m tap.
If a defender catches a kick between the goal line and the 10, 20m tap.

Much better than tries that go through 300 sets of hands 10m out of the line because the defending team is so incompetent that they can't lock up the ball when making a tackle. That is boring football.
