These are the same betting agencies that offer odds on results that they already know (reality TV) so we are supposed to feel sorry for them?

I will die on this hill, telling someone youre starting is as low level as it gets and is a basic part of their work that players should be able to share with friends and family.

Like he didn't promise the first try would be before 8 minutes and not make a tackle or something ridiculous like that.

Nah its enough to get him sacked on that alone and maybe even deregistered.

Might be on the minor end but he's told someone he's starting, and then has the knowledge a friend has placed a bet on him as FTS because of that information.

Anyone bothered to check if he tried any dummy half barge overs that game when it wasn't on? Lol.

I have no doubt other players are dumb enough to do the same but the difference here is he's been caught.

Who's the victim here? Sportsbet?

It doesn't appear he has done anything in the game to match fix or anything like that. Nor does it appear he has been paid for the information.

There's a difference between "hey guess what I'm in this week, you should come down the game, f**k yeah!" And "hey go place this bet these odds are nuta cos I'm starting this week"

It's not about the agencies. f**k them. It's about player integrity

Who was the player that intentially knocked on and then gave away a penalty in front of the sticks ?

What ever penalty he got from the NRL Smith should get about a tenth as severe.

Incorrect. Attempt to Supply constitutes Supply under the Qld DMA, doesn't require an actual "supply" or obtain.

Even if the Roosters can't sack Radley they can tell him to look for a new club ala May

It'll be interesting to see if Politis is true to his word about zero tolerance and sack one of thier favourite sons. It would certainly put a line in the sand for the other players and those who jion the club in the future.

The other guys on the golf trip are lucky they aren't been shown the door along with Rads.

Not often I agree with you, but here we are. His dealer didn't mention odds or betting until after the chat about him playing or not. He had a laugh when Scarface told him he had put down some cash. Dumb, yeah. We are talking the "Hectic Cheese" so nothing really to see here.

If the NRL go after Smith on these betting texts, then they’d have to be doing a forensic examination of how the Panthers team when they rested 17 ‘leaked’, and heads would need to roll on that too, and then Smith would be well within his rights to ask that every 1-17 change is investigated, to ensure no other player ever shared that info with friends/family before it was public.
The fact is, the NRL are complicit in this - their rules allow clubs to name a starting 17 and just make changes right up until 1 hour before kick-off, long after the betting agencies (some of whom with which they partner and receive money from) have put up odds that can be materially impacted by the team changes.
If the NRL were serious, you name your 1-17 and that’s the team, bar injury, including the starting 13. We have players dropping out of the 17 and then playing reserve grade.
Punters will often bet on 1st try to then find their player has been moved to the bench - that’s not right either.
