Eastwood was on absolutely nothing this year. His salary would barely cover half of any of the new players you've signed.

How can you say you had $$$ in the bank? Didn't they get spent with the signings of Goodwin, Morris, Kimmorley, Stagg, Ennis, Hodgson, Hannant, Gordon etc? Or are you telling me they ALL came for minimum wage?

Add to that the 5 signings this season (and don't say only Turner is on decent money, are you telling me Tia Kilifi would have left Penrith for next to nothing? Or Paea left the Dragons for a pittance? Please) for the loss of El Masri.... come on. Either there's about to be a mass exodus from Belmore, or something fishy's going on.
Had a lot of $$$ in the bank in 2002 as well.

Unless you have some sort of actual evidence of the 'Dogs rorting the cap,

Jealousy at it's finest.

Transit lounge in full effect. The staff turnover at Belmore must be a concern. The local Maccas apparently has better job security

Thats what everyone is pissed about. You lost 2 guys and signed half of the NRLs off contract players.

If any club is over it's Parramatta!

Between Poore & Tahu (Between those two, they'd be on more then all the players the Bulldogs signed for next year)... There roster along with the Dragons is more impressive and worth more for 2010.

For you Mr Skeepe, and others of course, I have decided to go through our squad and calculate the money they're on (and trust me, I have a fair idea.)

Chris Armit > Upgraded to a $120k contract this season for next season
Ben Barba > Minimum contract, $55k max
*Fred Briggs > Second Tier Cap, minimum contract. $30-40k max
*Brent Crisp > Second Tier Cap, minimum contract. $30-40k max
*Greg Eastwood > $120k
*Hazem El Masri > $280k minimum + $100k 10-year player allowance
Michael Ennis > $280k
Bryson Goodwin > Upgraded to a $100k contract this season for next season
Yileen Gordon > Minimum contract, $55k max
Ben Hannant > $350k
Daniel Harrison > Second Tier Cap, minimum contract. $30-40k max
Jarrad Hickey > $80k
Michael Hodgson > $120k
Daniel Holdsworth > $120k
Jamal Idris > Upgraded to $120k contract this season for next season
Brett Kimmorley > $350k
John Kite > Minimum contract, $55k max
Charlie Leaeno > Minimum contract, $55k max
*Daryl Millard > $120k
Brad Morrin > Minimum contract, $55k max
Josh Morris > $220k
Heka Nanai > Minimum contract, $55k max
Luke Patten > $300k
Ben Roberts > Upgraded to $120k contract this season for next season
Andrew Ryan > $350k
David Stagg > $220k
*Michael Sullivan > Minimum contract, $55k max
Conrad Ta'akimoeaka > Second Tier Cap, minimum contract. $30-40k max.
*Lee Te Maari > $85K
*Matt Utai > $180k
Gary Warburton > Upgraded to $120k contract this season for next season
Danny Williams > Second Tier Cap, minimum contract. $30-40k max.

Total: $4.1 million estimate

That's a rough estimate right there. The asterisks represent players leaving. So let's take a look at who we have signed to replace who..

Steve Turner > $180k
Junior Tia Kilifi > $120k
Mickey Paea > $120k
Dene Halatau > $200k
Blake Green > Minimum contract, $55k max

Lost (all at least 90% goneskies): Maitua (yes he still counts given it was this year he left), Eastwood, El Masri, Millard, Leaeno, Briggs, Sullivan, Utai, Crisp and Te Maari

Gained: Steve Turner, Mickey Paea, Blake Green, Junior Tia Kilifi and Dene Halatau

So as you can see, from rough estimates (and yes I did go overs on a few players to be on the safe side, like Hannant for example) we are under the cap and still have a fair whack to spend. It's not hard, just do the math.

It's funny how people are so quick to jump in and go "OMG OMG OMG they're over the cap!" without going in depth and really having a think about it.

I guess the salary cap doesn't apply to the Bulldogs. Signed all these players and only lost Eastwood, who would only have been on a bare bones salary anyway given the circumstances in which he was signed.

Imo O'Meley was the only poor signing. Was never gonna be able to keep it up for his entire contract. Mason is probably on big overs. He was playing very well pre Origin last year, and in the last month has come into some good form. Looking forward to next year actually. Can't wait to see Myles and Anasta back on the field.

I think the chooks will do really well next year. Top 8, top 6 perhaps. Should be a good year for you actually.

Kouparitsas is a top player. Just a horrible, horrible attitude. "Play me in first grade or I'll leave."

If we didn't have countless injuries, disciplinary issues, and a coach devoid of ideas, he probably wouldn't have played firsts at all. Mind you, he seemed to go alright filling in where he was needed.
