He confirmed an ACL tear with the Courier Fail.

He won't come back from that again. He is done. Poor bastard. But he had a great career.

As for the NSW yobs who booed him from the park, hang your heads in shame.

Pathetic if true on the last part.

From a fan of a club that Tate gave wonderful service too, I'm gutted about this. Champion bloke and deserved to go out on his own terms.

But if he doesn't, he's still achieved nigh-on every single thing there is to achieve in the game. The game is/was better off for true pros like him.

Some of the things written about him in the past 24 hours has been disgusting and classless. Some members have really disgraced themselves in that regard.

However, a very good player who's career should have ended in 2003 but he just kept fighting. Could be frustrating to watch at times but he was a big game player who knew how to come up with the big plays at the right time.

Queensland missed him when he came off. Big time.

I did not hear anyone booing him.
Tate is a legend of Origin. Played hard, done good for Queensland.
Will get a dinner.

Dont worry about it, Tate we know is the bigger man.

To even make comments about Tate the way NSW did just shows there class, they have none.
We use to it up here in paradise. He will get a dinner.

After all of his injuries he really deserved to go out on his own terms unfortunately seems like that's not gonna happen. As for the boos I'll put it down to a small section if dickheads and won't place the rest of the decent nsw fans in with them.

You might wanna have a gander at the last two pages in the "Great NRL pictures" thread.

As much as ive thought he was a knob at various times I have massive respect for his toughness and resilience to stick it out through all his injuries.

Sad way to end and hopefully he has a good life post career.

And of course the redneck geniused loser QLd fans would never engage in this type of behaviour.

Absolute grub of a player.

But never good to see a player have to end his career due to injury (though i don't believe this is official yet?)

Don't worry, he's just trying to find anything to sour NSWs win. Not working

Terrible luck for Tate. Still though, he may play again. Stranger things have happened.

He's 32 and has had multiple ACL tears and a bad neck injury. I don't think he will go through rehab again.

This is his 5th. Just insane what he has gone through injury wise.
I mean when you get to your fifth what graft are they even using? The only thing left they could use is probably a cadaver graft. Sadly his chances of developing arthritis and other knee pains are incredibly high.

Then maybe you should have named the thread "Brent Tate's career MIGHT be over".

He probably won't go through it again. But you don't know the full details of his injury or what his motivations are so you can't say his career is certainly over. Like I said, stranger things have happened.

Both teams have their grubs, and Tate was a QLD grub. He proved that often enough in SOO eg punch to Bird's unprotected face while he was on the ground a couple of years ago. Imagine if Bird got carted off with an injury up in QLD. Do you think they would have sat back and politely clapped. NOT
