Absolute grub of a player.

But never good to see a player have to end his career due to injury (though i don't believe this is official yet?)

Both teams have their grubs, and Tate was a QLD grub. He proved that often enough in SOO eg punch to Bird's unprotected face while he was on the ground a couple of years ago. Imagine if Bird got carted off with an injury up in QLD. Do you think they would have sat back and politely clapped. NOT

This.

Been a top player over the years and has put up with some awful injuries that most would not have come back from multiple times, sad to see his time in the game finish this way, but at least it was while he was still playing at the top.

If he'd had 4 previous reconstructions, I'd like to think they would've just been silent. No one's asking for three cheers and a hip hooray, just to not be a complete ass hat and boo him off.

Lol I bleed Maroon compairing this injury to Alex Mckinnons pull your heads in you inbred merkin. Also wasnt at the game but I heard plenty of people clapping him off.

Never liked the guy but he was one of the toughest competitors ive seen, up their with Bird as one of the ugliest grubbiest pricks in the game though.

Funnily enough I didn't give a shit last night, and I still don't.

I didn't boo either.
I may have internally smiled a little...maybe even a little giggle.

Does that make me a mean NSW supporter?

A true gentleman of the game, always played hard and fair and was a great influence on the younger players around him.

Note: He was badly injured just weeks after signing for the Cowboys the first time (with Australia) and then just weeks after his re-signing he is injured again. Poor dude.

I was at the game and pretty close to where it happened - 30m line about 15 rows up. Admittedly most people booed initially just like when any player initially goes down. However, he was clapped off by most people, hell, I hate Tate but I clapped him off. Admittedly, there were a few ppl trying to heckle but easily drowned out by applause. I just don't understand the part about him being booed off - completely false statement - you could only hear clapping. As mentioned the booing was when he initially went down and you could also say when he did not get on the medicab but that's moreso given the time that it took for it to go all the way out there and did not get on. So it definitely is a false accusation that he was actually booed off the field.

Some people in the crowd always boo immediately when an opposition player stays down injured. They're not not booing the player for being injured. They're booing because sadly the game has gotten to a stage where 9 outa 10 players that stay down now after a tackle or grab a leg are milking it.

Heaps of Storm supporters were booing Alex McKinnon when he stayed down. Do you think they were booing the bloke for being injured? No, pull your head in. They booed because they thought he would be playing for a penalty because he was dropped on his neck. They didn't realise how serious it was at the time and most people at the game without close up views don't. When they realised it was serious they stopped booing and clapped him off like Tate was last night.

Jesus. Use some common sense.

No, it just makes you another f**kwit.

haha

really

He was playing for qld in a SOO .
Why should I care?

Blokes get injured every game ...do you cry for them as well?

If we are being honest, the bloke probably should have given the game away yonks ago.
It was only going to end with him being hurt.

Sad end to a great career. I have a lot of time and respect for Tate, he's a true professional and one tough bastard.

I really hope the Cowboys keep him around in some sort of off-field capacity. Even with all his injuries, I still think he has a lot to offer in terms of culture and mentoring younger players.

Oh please. Talk all you want about his toughness and talent but the bloke is an absolute germ. He whinged and whined and was an absolute grub in the Greg Bird mould.

As much as I dislike the bloke, it's an unfortunate way for anyone to end their career.

Take your own advice and realise that anyone still booing the guy as he's being walked off the field isn't doing so because they think he's feigning injury.

Please. The majority of the booing happened while he was in the ground. He was getting cheers after that.

I did not hear anyone booing him.
Tate is a legend of Origin. Played hard, done good for Queensland.
Will get a dinner.

I was sitting in the Blatchys section, there were a fair few people booing him. Some clapped, some just sat there.

A few cheered, but I think that was more in sense of "Yeah, injured played, go NSW. Passion. Passion"

Dont worry about it, Tate we know is the bigger man.

To even make comments about Tate the way NSW did just shows there class, they have none.
We use to it up here in paradise. He will get a dinner.

Oh, yes. We have no class. I suggest you go have a read of some of the things these so called "QLDERS" have been tweeting and posting on their Maroons Facebook page, then come back to me. Both sides have their bad supporters, as well as their good supporters.

I met many QLD supporters who were gracious after the game yesterday, I many where cocky and still tried to brag. Same for a few NSW fans.

After all of his injuries he really deserved to go out on his own terms unfortunately seems like that's not gonna happen. As for the boos I'll put it down to a small section if dickheads and won't place the rest of the decent nsw fans in with them.

It's very unfortunate for him. A small group of NSW supporters near me belted out the "Naaa, naaa, naaa ehhhhh goodbye" chant as well.

You might wanna have a gander at the last two pages in the "Great NRL pictures" thread.

Those posters don't speak for everyone...

Absolute grub of a player.

He has no doubt been guilty of a few grubby moves at times. But then again, what Origin player is perfectly clean? They all do at times, give them an upper hand, inflict a bit of pain. Heck, Even Gal and Farah roughed up Slater and DCE...

Please. The majority of the booing happened while he was in the ground. He was getting cheers after that.

Partially. Some still continued after.

No one, I repeat no one, is a grub in the Greg Bird mould. Charles Manson, at a pinch.

Horseshit. Tate stays on he scores where McQueen dropped it. So you didn't get excited when Hoppa was struggling? Or when both Morris' went off last game?

You are asking me if I would CHEER and APPLAUD a player being carted off the field with a severe injury?

I know this place can get really low when it comes to Origin, I'm hardly innocent, but the performance from certain blues supporters in the last 24 hours has been an utter disgrace.
