The game will struggle to recover from this one.

I'm tipping the Parra contingient in the crowd for Friday night's game against the Dragons to drop by at least 50 percent to 1,500 as a result of this shocking news.

WIth no Finchy we might as well concede to rival sports now.

Brett Finch quits Eels

Adrian Proszenko | April 8, 2009 - 8:55AM

Brett Finch has shocked Parramatta officials by requesting an immediate release from the club to take up a lucrative offer in the English Super League.
Finch made the request late last night and Eels officials are expected to formally announce a release later this morning.
The Eels halfback has been struggling for form this year and the news hasn't come as a surprise to club officials.
The 27-year-old, who was involved in a recent drinking session with Willie Mason, recently bemoaned the lack of characters in the game. However, it's understood he is struggling to cope with the pressure of living in the fishbowl existence of the NRL.
Finch stood immediately stood himself down from Friday night's crucial encounter with St George Illawarra, claiming he was not in a fit mental state to play.
The latest development is a major blow for the Eels, who produced one of the worst displays in recent memory in last weekend's disappointing loss to the Roosters.
The make-up of the Eels halves will now be the next challenge for coach Daniel Anderson. Finch had been struggling to develop a fluent halves pairing with former NSW outside back Jarryd Hayne.

Most will

dont know why you're LOL at us.... LOL at Super League

Couldnt care less about SL....dont watch it, dont care about it.
But Parra are self destructing and its only 4 weeks in. Finch may have been much maligned, but he gave his all and is not a primma donna like Hayne, Inu and Mateo.

NRL isnt for spaz's that give their best but dont have the talent.

I'm sick of the 'he tries' bullsh*t. Just a line for not good enough.

Had to happen the way he has been playing. It has screwed up my fantasy team though!

Hayne seems to have all the talent but has produced crap in the past 18 months.
All he does is lie on the grass knocked out.
Krisnan Inu....done what since 2007? Produce a pathetic smile each time he kicks?

I have mixed feelings, but hope this is a catalyst for the change the Eels desperately need. Finch has been terrible but the price of his contract almost demanded his inclusion (and certainly contributed to prohibited the Eels in possible recruitment). He does try hard ... but that's not really good enough.
