That's some decent research there...

But what was realeased doesn't pertain to that section of law. The crown only sought suppression after the fact.

One can assume because they don't want tabloid style news papers making sensationalist headlines which may possibly influence a jury should this go to court (not even sure if it would go before a jury? not sure where/how it would progress)

Like I said I am unaware of what was suppressed. I have only seen hints of it about. Sexual assault cases tend to attract the most suppression especially at a committal hearing. It may not have been suppressed had it been the actual trial.

I imagine the case will have to be heard outside of the general manly/north Sydney region. It is going to be a fun one for both sides. Community perception of a rugby league player can range from GOD ON EARTH to RAPIST depending on the person.

Nooooo!!!!!! It must be heard on the hill at half time.

I am pretty sure it will hit the courts, if for nothing else than to address the "political" nature of the case.

I just hope that these threads don't become full of useless discussion (doubt that strongly). The fact is if he is guilty of what he did...people should feel sorry for the victim irrespective of the perpetrators status in society.

If he is innocent then all should walk away and nothing ever be spoken of the claimant and the defendant again

Though having seen the form of some of my fellow Manly supporters I doubt either will happen and I pity the job of a moderator.

If it goes to court he should be stood down...

At least for Round 1....

agree - but it will be round three before we know if it goes to court. But it is complex given the concept of innocent until guilty v not guilty plea v public perception v sponsor opinion v supporter opinion v publicopinion

i dont see the point of standing him down, it will most likely go to trail, but still he is innocent until proven guilty.

the case wont be going to trail for what? another year? what will standing him down prove?

if he is found guilty, then im sure he will face his punishment then.

When is the Manly season launch? The magistrate has to decide if the is enough evidence to go ahead with a trial. I don't think it will go to trial. If it does the team of lawyers representing Stewart will destroy her once she gets in the witness box. It's a sad state of affairs. All because of alcoho. This could cost Stewart a lot of money.:?

If Stewart was not under the influence (drunk) the incident probably wouldn't have happened. Was the girl drunk? Pretty sure she wasn't.

I guess we must be careful what we say on here, but there are some that say her father has been less than a model citizen...if you get my point.
I suspect this will all come to light if it proceeds to trial, which in my opinion is looking more and more unlikely.

My 2 cents - as Manly fans lets stay out of this whole situation. We don't know what really happened, let the court decide.

Not a good look proclaiming Brett's innocence when there is a chance he is guilty.
