yeah he's gonna be quite underdone, though he will be good for his leadership qualities as Wags is not a captain IMO

He should play reserves like Cannings to give him atleast abit of conditioning.

Maybe if his bones weren't so fragile & weak he wouldn't of had to be in this situation.

Smith was also asked about the halves for next year. In regards to Dykes he basically said that he had to go as he did not spend enough time on the field. He described Thorman as a fair player who chose to go back home. He said that Witt would be in there somewhere, however he still was not sure if he was the answer as our long tem halfback. He stated that he would need to lift more against the big teams. Reading between the lines I would say that he thinks its easy to have a big game against teams out of form like the Warriors last week and say the Souths game last year. He said that he was a very good goalkicker and kicker in general play. I personally think that Smith does not rate him as a halfback and next year there will be another player in that position. I think that player may be PJ Marsh, let me rephrase that, I'm almost certain it will be Marsh.

Cayless wants to return and hopefully will be given that chance. I guess it's a little late in the season but hopefully his presence can inspire us to two upset wins.

If that is Brian Smiths opinion, I'm happy. Personally, I don't think Witt is the answer to our long term half back problems either. PJ is a much better option. I just hope his neck injury doesn't ever cause him problems again.
They are nasty things.

Witt is the answer. For f**k Sake. Watch him fire next year. He has been in and out for two years. Let's just see if Smithy gives him a fair go from Round 1 to blend with the team instead of chucking him in half way through a season and make him try win us games to make the 8.

maybe he is the answer but if the coach ain't gonna back him then he hasn't got a chance. like we are not even into next season and Smith already sounds reluctant to use Witt. i say give him a 'fair go' and see if he makes the most of his opportunity.

We have some of the best talented halfs coming through in the Lower grades Im confident one of them will lead us back to the top. Tim Smith, Blake Green etc etc etc.

How many years is Brian Smith at the club?

How many years is Michael Witt at the club?

Rest my case.

Atleast we win games with Witt at halfback. I just wish Smith would give the guy a chance.
