HJ,

i suppose Witt (and certainly his kicking game) did not dominate the Roosters a few weeks ago (with a lot of help from a decent forwards performance)????

and i suppose he and Morris didn't dominate St. George last year either when we blew them off the park at Parra Stadium last year???

i agree with what your saying to an extent, it just seems like Witt has to continue to "prove himself" in everyone's eyes before anyone is willing to admit he can actually play the game - its like ok you have had several excellent games now, but then you did that charge down against the Sharks, oh well, thats a few weeks back in PL for you then.........sometimes you just have to show some faith ina young player and let them make some mistakes and develop their game over time - you can't just expect them to be brilliant all the bloody time???????????????

I have mixed feelings about the return of our big captain.

A part of me is happy to see him back doing what he loves, but the other part of me wanted him to miss the rest of this year and the up coming tri nations to be ready to have the biggest year of his life in 2005.

In saying this though if he does get through the next 2 games unscaved and go's on to play tri nations footy unscaved as well it will surely add plenty of confidence to his 2005 campaign!!

A lot of us have mixed feelings about Witt-capabilities - myself included. But Truey alluded to the real truth behind Witt: coupled with a 5/8, he plays very well. Last year, toward the end, he went gangbusters with Dykes (coinciding with Dykes best form in our jumper at that time). This year, after SMith FINALLY gives him a decent 5/8, Parra score 40+ points in consecutive weeks.

I think Witt has well and truly proven that he deserves the 7 jumper, as long as there is a 5/8 in the 6 jumper. And Brian Smith has proved that he is a dingbat, by not giving us this effective combo when the season mattered.

Its good to see someone swallow some pride and admit a mistake. Well done <UPtheEELS>.
I agree. It is such a shame that he wasn't given the opportunities like he has now earlier in the season. Smith REALLY stuffed him around and it is no surprise that he made the decision to return home.
I really wish he was staying.
